The Place Where Fallout Purists Whine

Recommended Posts

Right next to the Crimson Caravan. It's a building marked with a Followers symbol. Shouldn't be too hard to find.

Note: AFAIK none of them are cosmetic, so don't expect to look like a cyborg in any way.

Here's what you can find though:

Various implants that give a +1 to SPECIAL stats, one per stat. These are 4,000 each.

Damage resistance impant. 8,000

Regeneration implant, ~The same effect as being permanently being buffed by Sarspirilla. 12,000

Again, there's a chance there may be a limit, but I've gotten two so far and can get a third.

Also, on a side note, All Roads alone makes the extra 20 bucks for Collectors Edition totally worth it. Best flamethrower-related scene ever.

Biggest glitch I have so far is with my robot friend Ed-e.

There are random times talking to people he will start shooting them after words. Makes it REALLY awkward.

In addition, pathing sometimes REALLY sucks for companions, they will just run off on their own, go too far from you and then "die".

Im using boone and ed-e, makes snipes easy.

According to The Vault, you can only get a number of implants equal to your base Endurance. Link. (spoiler free)

Is anyone else getting a glitch whereby your wweapon will randomly keep firing every time you complete an action (e.g. jumping, entering a new room, using the pip boy, entering VATS)... seriously, it's fucking annoying and I can't get it to stop.

A quick google search indicates that the only way to get it to stop is to load an old save. I just don't think I can face re-doing the last 24 hours' gameplay :(

That's why you should hard save after every major quest, and autosave every time you get in a fight or pass through a location.

There's a glitch I feel you all need to know about as it is rather major. There's a TINY spoiler here, but if you don't want your game crashing, you should read.

In Freeside there's a quest you can get that is called "The Debt Collector." The quest is all fine and good, until you have to hunt down ol' Caleb McCaffery. Unlike the other three previous people, Caleb is located in The Strip.

My suggestion? Avoid him like the plague until this is patched.

The glitch is, apparently, all in his hat. See, in order to complete the quest, you have to take his hat and take it back to the person that gave you the quest. So, here's the deal. If you kill him on The Strip and carry the hat into a casino or out of The Strip, the game crashes upon leaving the casino or the game crashes upon trying to re-enter the Strip. Not only does it crash the game, but it corrupts your auto-save.

It happened to me, but thankfully I had a hard save just a good 20 minutes prior to where I had the auto-save.

How did I work around it? I read this, didn't believe it, did it, and it worked! Putting on the hat allows you to continue the game no problem.

And if you're like me, you wondered if getting rid of the hat by completing the quest (giving the hat to the quest-giver) releases you from it's burden. It doesn't. DO NOT GET RID OF THE HAT.

I've read that if you antagonize Caleb and have him chase you off The Strip into Freeside and kill him in Freeside, the glitch never occurs. I cannot attest to this, however.

Hoping that they release a patch for this soon. That hat is NOT stylish and tooooootally clashes with my Kings gear!

Another workaround, and this is 100% true, is to use a speech check to make him give you the hat. Then your game is 100% safe, you have no risk of corruption.

Though I am playing on PS3, if that in any way makes a difference.

Speaking of hat's, I still can't decide who to give Boone's hat to. I'm torn between the really quiet, nice housewife who doesn't speak to anyone in the village and who's Brahmin keep getting killed by an invisible Super Mutant with a minigun or the really quiet, nice househusband who doesn't speak to anyone in the village and who's Brahmin keep getting killed by an invisible Super Mutant with a minigun. Y'know, because I am a heartless bastard.

Also, I think my favourite moment of the game so far is stumbling across a pack of Bignorners, unloading my Incinerator, setting them all on fire and then being chased for like, a minute and a half by a very angry, very fiery dozen or so Bighorners. Beautiful.

Technically, you don't give them the hat, you equp the hat then tell the person to come with you to the dinosaur.

Also, from what I've read if you go after someone who isn't the guilty party (spoiled below), Boone won't come with you. Which is a shame because Boone is a REALLY good companion.

The innkeeper did it. There's proof in the safe in the checkin room.

Started yesterday (on hardcore obv.) and eh. I know I haven't scraped the surface yet, I'm still in the very first town just looking around at stuff but it doesn't seem as involving as Fallout 3 did. At least, yet anyway. Going from designing your character literally from birth, to waking up as a complete random guy is a bit disappointing, but eh. I know it'll pick up eventually but it just doesn't feel like its doing anything new at all. I'm stealing shit from the doctors house and I'm squinting at the screen because everything is so fucking brown. The shelves, the items, the wall, bleurgh. At least the bright blue sky looks nice :shifty:

Does anyone know what and where Veronica's quest is all about? Please spoiler tag it.

Spoiler tags don't always work on my phone, so I'll just tell you it's in Hidden Valley. That location is key to several end game quests, and Vernoica's quest lines and the others in Hidden Valley help you out later on by giving you access to it with your stuff intact.
