brenchill
Stan Collymore is spearheading the "Don't take Rooney" campaign on Twitter. What a cock.

Starvinho
You can't just leave our best players at home just because they're a prick. Should we leave Ashley Cole at home on that basis? It's not six-months or so since that guy shot someone with a fucking air-rifle, but he's one of our best players and despite having a big dislike for him I'd have no-one else at left-back to be perfectly honest. Anyone who thinks we should leave Rooney at home doesn't know shit, we'll need him.
Gazz
You would, Gazz. It ain't like he cost you money or anything, shiiiit. He did, but also, say hypothetically speaking the five strikers taken in the squad are Rooney, Bent, Carroll, 25 goals this season Sturridge and Agbonlahor. England get a decent group and go through with 3 wins out of 3. Sturridge bags 3, both Bent and Carroll (from the bench) weigh in with 2 apiece and it seems that England have found a strike partnership that works. What happens in the knock out stages? One of them makes way and the whole system changes to accomodate PunchKicker so he spend 90 minutes slouching about not giving a fuck and moaning about not beinf match fit when we get knocked out? Fuck that noise.
Liam
Convincing argument there Starvinho. Leave him at home.
Starvinho
Pointless making an argument to be honest when 90% of the country dislike Rooney, the way I see it as long as he's fit he'll be going, I'd put money on it.
MGW
But he's a space in The squad that thoretically could play absoloutly no part in any game if England go out early. Everyone qho goes should be able to play a part in any game. Rooney is quality, but he's suspended for the group games and on that basis shouldn't be going. Cymbols
This is assuming that a. Rooney is injury fit at the time. b. Other strikers are playing really well Sturridge, Agbonglahor, Carroll etc. He might not go. Unlikely but y'know...

This bit probably won't matter, leading to a slap in the face of the guy who has to miss out even though Rooney will miss (at best) 50% of the tournament. brenchill
I can see he poses a problem, I'm not denying that, but assuming he is fully fit in the summer, it would be very stupid to not take a World-Class Striker to a major international tournament. Admin Lineker Posted October 13, 2011 Admin Report Share Posted October 13, 2011 Let's wait and see how the rest of the season pans out. Far too early to be thinking about the squad just yet.
Asuka's Gonna Kill You
Rooney to score the winner in the final, wait and see Hopefully we take him, expect we will. A fit Rooney coming into the knock out stages could be massive. Not a bad thing that his place is also up for grabs, hopefully a few people step up to the plate between now and then. Jimmy
Yeah, we should definitely take him. It would be stupid not to take a player of his calibre in a 25 man squad to a major tournament. If the other strikers are playing at their best if/when we make to the knockout stages, then I'm all in favour of putting Rooney on the bench and letting them player their football. But he's well worth putting in the squad instead of a 'wildcard' or something. The guy is a top quality player, and while his past tournament track record hasn't been the best, I can't see a scenario where we don't take him (barring injury).
