Hornswoggle4PM
I like Brett Lee. I hope he can stay around. I just hope he stops walking around dressed like a fashion trendsetter or whatever he's trying to do. Shaun Tait's back in the team too, but neither will likely be able to regain their top pace or lethality. Tait's 5wd ball almost cost us that match, but as with just about any recent Australian bowler, he's always been a bit erratic.
Baddar
Watson's just reached his 150 (biggest total ever for him, in any form of the game) and Australia need 16 from 19 balls to win the first ODI.
Starvinho
England have lost this now 10 from 12 now Australia, tense finish again! Edited January 16, 2011 by Jordan
Baddar
10 from two overs needed. A couple more dot balls, and you never know. The problem is, even if they stop the boundary, the pitch is huge so the 2 will always be on. Yeah, not looking good.
Starvinho
England 294 all out in 49.4 overs, Australia replied with 297/4 with 5 balls to spare, to clinch a 6 wicket victory, Australia lead the ODI Series 1-0 with 6 to play. Starvinho
Watson 1, England 0 That was an amazing innings from him. Can't fault it, you'd be proud of that in a Test match, nevermind a ODI. Some brilliant cricket again all round, we've been spoit this Winter. Hornswoggle4PM
I was there tonight, and caught the end of the English innings including Tremlett's six as well as the Aussie batting. The boos for Clarke after a series of dot balls in the last 15 overs were massive, but even bigger support for Watto. Also, Ajmal Shahzad takes ages in between deliveries. Ridiculously long for an ODI. Edited January 16, 2011 by Hornswoggle4PM
Starvinho
A bit off-topic for the thread but here's the World Cup squad for England, the competition takes place between 19 February and 2 April, and India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are hosting the competition. England Cricket 15-Man World Cup Squad; Andrew Strauss (Middlesex, capt) James Anderson (Lancashire) Ian Bell (Warwickshire) Tim Bresnan (Yorkshire Stuart Broad (Nottinghamshire) Paul Collingwood (Durham) Eoin Morgan (Middlesex) Kevin Pietersen (Surrey) Matt Prior (Sussex, wk) Ajmal Shahzad (Yorkshire) Graeme Swann (Nottinghamshire) James Tredwell (Kent) Jonathan Trott (Warwickshire) Luke Wright (Sussex) Michael Yardy (Sussex)
Plubby
Who the hell is James Anderson? Is he a relative of Jimmy Anderson?
Admin Lineker Posted January 21, 2011 Admin Report Share Posted January 21, 2011 Second ODI just started; England won the toss and chose to bowl. First wicket has already fallen for Australia at 6.
Starvinho
At the moment Australia all out for 230, England are 73-3 after 19 overs, Pietersen went for a duck though!
Baddar
The KP wicket was fucking stupid, especially after Strauss had only just gone. Eng 137/5 at the moment, and need 94 from 95 balls to win. Yardy and Morgan in.
Starvinho
140/6 now, it's not looking good.
Baddar
Ugh, decent catch for the last wicket, but the ball was hit so high in the air, it wouldn't have even gone for 4 if the fielders had just left it.
Starvinho
That run-out was shocking just then too, we've gotta dig our heels in now and pick our shots if we're gonna win. Nothing silly and we have a chance.
Starvinho
England all-out for 184, Australia win by 46 runs. poor by England. 2-0 to Australia now. Third ODI is on Sunday 23rd at Sydney.
Starvinho
England lost again 214 all out just isn't good enough really, Australia are 3-0 now with 4 to play.
Plubby
Brett Lee has been sensational this series and capped it off with a Best on Ground performance. Somebody pay that man his money! Really really super-excited for him. Hope he continues to bring it throughout the world cup. The best thing for the new young Australian talent is to get in amongst with a link to all the success we had previously, without all the dragging through the mire that others have gone through (Ponting, Clarke.) Even with that said about Clarke's batting - he really is playing the role of a Captain very well. That's the biggest difference so far from the Ashes to the shorter forms of the game is that the English have not been flagrantly out-captaining Australia at every turn.
