The Marvel Cinematic Universe TV Thread

This is rumors, so grain of salt I guess, but supposedly the idea is that it's an adaptation of Mayor Fisk, Devil's Reign & Born Again. I wouldn't expect it to be too focused on Matt's lawyer life, since the stories of those two events are so big. It'll be in there obviously, because you can't do a Daredevil show without it really, but it's probably way more Daredevil focused than Matt Murdock. Maybe Woll & Henson are only cameos, and don't appear on the "regular cast" list or something.

Obviously if they're adapting Born Again, we're not going to see Karen being a heroin addicted pornstar, but we're also not going to see stuff like the Thunderbolts working for Mayor Kingpin or Elektra become Daredevil or Matt having an identical twin.

Echo/Born Again spoilers possibly maybe:

Spoiler

The story supposedly starts in Echo, with Matt looking for "an old friend" (rumor was it was supposed to be Jessica Jones, but scheduling conflicts made Krysten Ritter unavailable so they shifted the story from Jessica to Frank Castle).

Another rumor is that instead of airing all 18 episodes without interruption, they'll divide the show into six episode mini seasons, with another Marvel show airing in between (or the way things have been going, something other than Marvel). So the first six episodes, then something else, another six episodes, something else, then the final six episodes.

I've started to re-watch Agents of SHIELD on D+

And good lord...

Spoiler

I forgot how good the build up to Ward being HYDRA was.  He's just basic "Generic Action Man" so often, but they do all these little things where he is establishing friendships with the other agents.  It was just built up so well and was SUCH a twist I never saw coming

Is this where I talk about Secret Invasion? Did anyone watch it? Like I couldn't see what was happening half the time. Are my TV settings way off or was it just really dark?

Naww, I've struggled with a lot of D+ shows with that.

I also didn't realize Secret Invasion was out. Maybe I should watch that today.

The only buzz I've seen surrounding Secret Invasion was the intense backlash against the AI-created opening credit sequence.

I watched the first episode. It was a fine set-up for the rest of the series. I'll keep watching it although I'm certain they won't be able to stick the landing yet again.

The Pilot TV podcast (run by Empire magazine staff) saw the first two episodes and really liked it. They said it was definitely a 'Marvel' show, but actually felt a little different to the standard fair and was done well.

The talk of franchise fatigue made me decide to finally give She-Hulk a watch since I reactivated Disney Plus and it's fun enough. First episode was a bit dull scene setting, but the rest have been charming and different enough.

Sidebar though, I really hate how misused Hulk has been throughout his run in the MCU. Outside Ragnarok and the first Avengers film, he's never really felt like a... Well... A Hulk level threat.

I liked everything bar the end

which was just a tad too meta for me. Especially when all the bad things they mocked and veered away from have popped up in several Marvel productions since.

Regarding the end

Spoiler

I kind of agree, kind of don't. Like yeah the rest of the stuff is going to keep following formula, but that was kind of the point - this didn't have to, it had its own unique makeup and a big blowout fight with the bad guy isn't it. First and foremost she's true to who she is - Jen, she might be a superhero by circumstance, but she's a lawyer and a decent human by choice, and taking down the villain not by some big fight but just by showing them for the weak ass incel morons they are is far more... Uh... Credible.

I couldn't resist.

She Hulk was my favorite MCU thing since Endgame.

And I dug Secret Invasion. I had to tweak my TV to a different preset to see it too. I couldn't watch Moon Knight in the daytime at all because of this.

I enjoyed Secret Invasion as well. The AI opening doesn't bother me at all and there's genuine interest in almost every MCU character as to whether they're a Skrull or not. Well, at least the ones that have credits for the series.
