Best episode ever

Though I'm a little concerned they might just ignore this episode completely and move on next week in typical south park fashion.

Can't agree more. They kept throwing out obscure references one after another. I felt this could have been a movie if they would have taken the time to write a resolution for it, but I'm also afraid we might not get.

When have they done that aside from Darth Chef?

To some extent...

[Cartman's Mom Is a Dirty Slut] was to conclude with the first episode of the second season, on April 1, 1998, four weeks after "Cartman's Mom is a Dirty Slut" was first broadcast.[4] However, instead of continuing the episode's storyline, Parker and co-creator Matt Stone made an episode regarding the South Park minor characters Terrance and Philip, as an April Fool's Day prank on viewers of the show.[5] Upset fans wrote more than 2,000 angry e-mail complaints to Comedy Central within a week of the episode's original broadcast,[6] and media outlets said some fans harbored a grudge against the show more than five years after the episode was broadcast.[7] "Cartman's Mom Is Still a Dirty Slut", the second part of the episode, was originally set to air on May 20, 1998, but Comedy Central moved up the airdate to April 22, 1998, in response to the angry feedback from fans.[8][9]

There was also no "to be continued" message at the end of the episode which leaves me less than optimistic.

Yeah but they still showed it, and they did it on purpose as an April Fool's joke.

That was most definitely the best episode of the season. So many awesome characters brought back for a little while, I hope next week's will be just as great. Didn't see the ginger thing coming at all, that might have made me laugh the longest.

Unashamedly fan service but still awesome. Can't wait to see how it concludes.

Actually, one cool thing for me was seeing Winona Ryder and Brian Denehee (sp?) amongst the celebs. I can't think of many occasions where the movie has been referenced in the main series. The only time I can think of off the top of my head is when Saddam Hussein returns to Hell but Satan has a new boyfriend.

Was anyone else expecting to see R. Kelly pop and go "And I pull out my gun!" during the "No, that's a closet" bit? I thought for sure that was were it was going..

I doubt we'll hear anything more about it - then again, you never know with these guys. I don't suspect another Terrence & Phillip episode either as much as I'd love it.

Oh and on an interesting sidenote that doesn't deserve its own topic;

THE BOOK OF MORMON

A NEW MUSICAL COMEDY

FROM THE CREATORS OF "SOUTH PARK,"

TO PREMIERE ON BROADWAY IN MARCH, 2011

BOOK, MUSIC AND LYRICS BY TREY PARKER, MATT STONE and ROBERT LOPEZ

DIRECTED BY JASON MOORE and TREY PARKER

------------------------------------------------------------------------

"THE BOOK OF MORMON", a new original musical comedy from "South Park"

creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone and /Avenue Q/ composer and

co-creator Robert Lopez, will premiere on Broadway in March, 2011.

The world premiere will be directed by Jason Moore and Trey Parker.

Parker and Stone's landmark animated television series "South Park"

celebrates its 200th episode this week. "South Park" premiered on

Comedy Central in 1997. Parker and Stone have won four Emmy Awards and

a Peabody Award for the controversial, critically acclaimed series.

Their credits also include the critically acclaimed films, South

Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut and Team America: World Police.

The team co-wrote the musical numbers for /South Park: Bigger, Longer

and Uncut/. The film's accomplished and outrageous score surprised and

delighted critics and audiences. Parker received an Academy Award

nomination for Best Song for his music and lyrics for "Blame Canada"

from the musical's score. The New York Film Critics Circle also

honored /South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut/ with the organization's

first award ever presented for Best Animated Film.

Parker and Stone make their Broadway musical writing debut with THE

BOOK OF MORMON.

"Growing up in Colorado, a lot of our friends were Mormons and we

always thought their book would make a great musical," Parker and

Stone said. "We loved /Avenue Q/ and are having a blast working with

Bobby Lopez. Having a show on Broadway is a dream come true for us and

we can't wait to share THE BOOK OF MORMON with everyone."

Robert Lopez is co-creator, composer and lyricist for Avenue Q,

which won 2004 Tony Awards for Best Musical, Best Score and received a

Grammy nomination for its Original Cast Album. Avenue Q played for

six years on Broadway and is currently running Off-Broadway and in

London.

"It has been such a thrill to get to work with two guys I've always

admired so much, Matt Stone and Trey Parker," Lopez said. "Their

"South Park" movie musical is beloved within the Broadway community

- it was certainly one of my biggest influences writing Avenue Q.

It's been a lot of work and a lot of laughs, and I'm so excited by the

show. It really is in many senses a big traditional musical comedy,

with, as you might expect, untraditional subject matter. I can't wait

to see how Broadway audiences are going to react when they experience

it."

Jason Moore has been represented on Broadway with Avenue Q, Steel

Magnolias and Shrek, The Musical. He directed Jerry Springer: The

Opera at Carnegie Hall. His Off-Broadway credits include Avenue Q

(New World Stages, Vineyard), Speech and Debate (Roundabout),

Guardians (the Culture Project), The Crumple Zone.

THE BOOK OF MORMON will be produced by Scott Rudin and Anne

Garefino.

Theater, cast and additional creative team will be announced at a

later date.
