Chelsea’s pursuit of central-defensive reinforcements has prompted them to open talks with Valencia over the signing of Aymen Abdennour, initially on loan with an option to make the move permanent at the end of the season.

Cesc Fabregas will be staying at Chelsea despite an enquiry from AC Milan.

West Brom have agreed a fee in the region of £4m for Watford defender Allan Nyom. He is currently heading for a medical.

I'd imagine they're easier to sort and sell to a player. Plus, the 'selling' club remove a player they don't want from their wage bill for the season and there is less risk to the 'buying' club if the move doesn't work it.

Sky sources understand AC Milan have made a late bid to sign Jack Wilshere on loan from Arsenal.

Hal Robson Kanu has been given permission to leave the squad to sort out his future, according to Sky sources. Sky understand he’s currently on his way to West Brom for a medical to negotiate a deal. Robson-Kanu is a free agent and is not bound by the parameters of the transfer window.

Derby are leading race to sign Watford midfielder Ikechi Anya, according to Sky sources.
