How exactly does that work, anyway?

The losing pitcher's .ERA shouldn't be affected, and he argubly shouldn't get a L since he didn't put the batter on base if that runner is the only one that scores.

The opposing pitcher shouldn't get a W, unless the losing pitcher gives up more runs than just that one player.

Red Sox ship Andrew Benintendi to the Royals in a three way trade with the Mets.

Royals #8 prospect OF Khalil Lee goes to the Mets, Red Sox get OF Franchy Cordero, RHP Josh Wincowsky who the Mets just got in the Mets deal, and they’ll get 1 PTBNL from the Mets and 2 from the Royals.

This one came out of nowhere.

Yeah there isn't going to be this king's ransom for a guy who's a free agent next year. The key time to make a trade if you don't intend to re-sign is with a year and a half left, teams will go nuts for that extra playoff push. It'll still be an okay return, but less than Boston got for Betts.

The Cubs have supposedly been asking for the Mets’ top catching prospect Francisco Alvarez.  He’s only 19 and a ways out but I’m extremely high on him and I wouldn’t be happy parting with him for a rental.

Granted, Bryant doesn’t necessarily have to be a rental but re-signing Lindor and probably Conforto would figure to be bigger priorities.  If they were to extend all three they can pretty much forget about ever getting under the luxury tax again and they’ll have to accept whatever draft/IFA pool penalties for repeat offenders end up in the new CBA.

Fangraphs' projections give Baltimore a strong 0.0% chance of making the playoffs.

Not even "So you're telling us there's a chance" amount of a chance.

In before Alex Wells wins the Cy Young and DJ Stewart breaks the single season home run record.

Who you're surely asking? Exactly.

Teams are slowly but surely announcing their early season attendance plans.  With that, the Marlins announced they'd be capped at 20% to start the year which is a joke that writes itself.

The Rays won't need a cap, unless they plan to be a bigger joke.
