The Last of Us

I got this last Friday, but because of work and the Stanley Cup finals I haven't had a chance to touch it yet. I have two days off starting tomorrow, and judging from what I've been hearing, I am stoked as sin.

Fucking Dora? How the fuck am I supposed to live up to that? Do I have a fucking monkey LL? Does it look like I have a fucking monkey?

The single player was fantastic, from the AI to the story to the actual fear I felt while playing. In the past couple years there have only been a couple games I was looking forward to and it was clear which game I considered to be my personal GOTY. I had a bit more fun playing TLOU than Bioshock: Infinite, but with GTA V and Watch_Dogs coming out this year, I wonder if it will hold up. Regardless, I loved this game and it Naughty Dog as my favorite game developer.

Yeah, winter is just... damn. I was waiting for people to reach that, because it honestly might be THE best section of a game I've ever played.

Waking up this morning that was the first thing I thought about. That might be the pinnacle, the review that said "Citizen Kane of gaming" is sounding more and more right as I get closer to finishing this game.

Honestly, I struggled through Winter, I died continually, and yet I still never once wanted to put the game down. All I wanted to do was keep playing.

Yeah there were a couple parts there that I just died on repeatedly.

When you take over with Joel and when you have to knife David especially

The best part was when I started it I was like "I'll just play for another 20 minutes and go to bed" and 2 hours later I couldn't put the controller down.

Beat it today. Played through the final three seasons in one sitting. I put it on at 10 with the intention of playing for an hour then decorating our spare room. Four hours later before I checked the clock. I was gripped, even forgot to go eat and drink.

I think I liked the pseudo happy ending. Most games like this either have the everyone lives ending or the more recent kill the main/supporting character ending. So it was nice to see people survive while retaining a gritty, realistic "not everythings okay" edge. That said, they could have pulled out a real tearjerker if they wanted.
