Martin O'Neill is stepping down as Republic of Ireland manager.

Some of the names I heard on the news suggested as potential replacements:

Mick McCarthy

Stephen Kenny  (manager of League of Ireland Champions Dundalk)

and some bloke who managed Limerick years ago

I wouldn't mind Kenny or Big Sam. Kenny would be exciting while Sam gets results and is the greatest England manager of all time.

They probably won't do it but Stephen Kenny would be a great move. Michael O'Neil was able to make the move from managing Shamrock Rovers to managing Northern Ireland. And he was a considerably less experienced manager than Stephen Kenny is at the time.

Big Sam seems like the kinda guy the FAI would like to get because he's got a profile.

Fully agree. It'd be a progressive move that rewards a successful Irish manager. Kenny plays good football and is a consistent winner. I don't see why he can't make the transition.

He's been managing since he was 27 too.
