Watford are close to appointing the Getafe and former Atletico Madrid manager Quique Sanchez Flores after talks with current boss Slavisa Jokanovic broke down over his contract demands. Jokanovic guided Watford to automatic promotion from the Championship this season but his contract is due to expire at the end of next month. Talks over a new deal broke down after the former Chelsea midfielder asked for a pay rise the owners felt was beyond what they could pay. Watford have now approached Flores and while no deal has yet been agreed, it is understand he has been offered the chance to take charge of the Hornets on their return to the Premier League.

Bamford didn't look arsed yesterday, but tbf, it was probably more down to lack of fitness than anything.

Yeah he's been injured since we played Norwich at Carrow Road in April. Doesn't help that he's only failed to start one game since then either so he's had no opportunity to let it heal without further stress to it, and we've essentially been playing with ten men.

I read that Watford offered Jokanovic a one grand per week payrise, no wonder he walked.

Brentford have named Excelsior manager Marinus Dijkhuizen as their new head coach. Dijkhuizen, who guided Excelsior to 15th in the Dutch Eredivisie last season - the club failing to win any of its final nine matches, will have Roy Hendriksen as his assistant.
