Well that might not be strictly true. :/

He might have a strongly held personal belief that it is fun to punch people in the face, leading him to practice punching people in the face, which in turn developed his ability to punch people in the face.

Here we see a potential causal link between Mr Furious's ability to punch and what I posit to be one of his personal beliefs.

The only time it comes as a concern on his whole homosexuality/peadophilia comments is when he has also stated that when he's done with boxing he'd be interested in entering politics.

The contest isn't about his (or anyone elses) personality really, is it? It's widely regarded as being the award given to the sportsperson seen as most successful in the calendar year. The award was named in the 1950's, and said name isn't really the point of the whole thing in the modern day.

To an extent, but I'd imagine being a complete and utter cunt a la Fury might stand against him.

Well I certainly hope it does. I don't even think his sporting achievement is the best of those up for the award, but if it comes down to fine criteria when people are choosing between a few, you'd like to think Fury will lose out in the minds of any right thinking people due to the things he has said before.

This is the same nation of people that voted for a dog to win a talent contest so I wouldn't be surprised if he did. As already pointed out it hasn't been about someone's personality for years.

Also, re: Sports Personality of the year, "Personality" can literally just mean someone of fame or celebrity, it doesn't necessarily mean a person's actual personable attitude.
