Middlesbrough have agreed a deal with Ajax to sign the Denmark winger Viktor Fischer. Boro will pay the Dutch club an undisclosed fee believed to be around £3.8m around for Fischer, who will sign a three-year contract. The 21-year-old is Boro’s first signing of the summer and the move will officially go through when the international transfer window reopens on 9 June. Fischer, who has eight caps for Denmark, has more than 100 senior appearances to his name since joining Ajax in the summer of 2012. He scored 11 goals in 39 games for the Amsterdam club last season, including one against Celtic in the Europa League.

Crystal Palace have opened negotiations with Queens Park Rangers aimed at making Steven Caulker their first signing of the summer. Caulker, a former Tottenham Hotspur youth-team graduate who moved to Loftus Road from Cardiff City in 2014 for £8m, spent last season on loan at Southampton and Liverpool from the Championship club, though he managed only one Premier League start all term. The 24-year-old, whose solitary cap was gained against Sweden in 2012, is keen to revive his stuttering career in the top flight, with QPR happy to listen to offers. They are seeking a deal worth a potential £6.5m for the defender, whom Palace would consider a long-term partner for Scott Dann at centre-half.

Damien Delaney has signed a new 12-month deal at Selhurst Park, but Palace could lose Adrian Mariappa on a free transfer despite the Jamaica international having been offered new terms in south London. Another defender, the veteran Brede Hangeland, is also out of contract while Martin Kelly is interesting both West Bromwich Albion and Sunderland. Alan Pardew, the Palace manager, has indicated a desire to make three or four major signings this summer, with interest expected in the likes of Lewis Cook at Leeds, West Ham’s James Tomkins, the Chelsea goalkeeper Asmir Begovic and the Norwich winger Nathan Redmond. Some fringe players will also depart, with the likes of Jordon Mutch, Fraizer Campbell, Lee Chung-yong and Alex McCarthy all effectively available. Marouane Chamakh and Emmanuel Adebayor are both out of contract, with the latter the subject of interest from clubs in the Chinese Super League.

Robert Lewandowski’s agent has revealed that the Bayern Munich striker has held talks with Real Madrid and could be interested in leaving the German champions this summer.

That would be a frightening frontline.

Leicester are to sign German international goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler, report the Guardian.

He's too good to ride the bench surely, cup/CL keeper?

I know it's unlikely but I'd find it just sensational if Mata went back to Chelsea now.

As would I! :w00t:

(And it's not like his position is anywhere near our highest priority atm, but come on, it's Mata.)

Manchester City are set to confirm the signing of midfielder Ilkay Gundogan from Borussia Dortmund.

The 25-year-old Germany international recently underwent knee surgery but that will not affect his move.

City have reached an agreement with Dortmund, with the transfer fee reportedly in the region of £20m.

Completion of the deal is understood to be imminent, with Gundogan becoming the first acquisition for new City manager Pep Guardiola.

Gundogan will miss Euro 2016 and the start of the new Premier League season after suffering a dislocated kneecap in training at the start of May.

But City are confident he will make a full recovery and play a key role under Guardiola.

Gundogan was also sidelined for the 2014 World Cup with a back problem that ruled him out for almost the entire 2013-14 season.

He joined Dortmund from Nuremberg in 2011 and helped them reach the 2013 Champions League final before signing a new contract in 2015 that still has a year to run.

Chelsea seem to be quite persistently being linked with Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly, with latest reports from Italy claiming that they're willing to meet the 30m euros (£23.5m) asking price for the 24-year-old.

So long as he's not another Papy Djilobodji...

Triple H adopted the Dortmund model?
