We have a genuine chance of at least qualifying for the Europa League this season so we spend this window weakening our squad. It’s quite baffling.

Supposedly the plan is to go for our actual targets in the summer window and not just buy now for the sake of buying. It makes sense when you look at the likes of Denis Suarez, Lucas Perez, Willian etc but it's still a horrific window in context of, well, *gestures at everything*

This is apparently our strategy but it's a ballsy game to play when we're an injury to Meslier away from catastrophe. Club must be confident that Bamford and Phillips are close to being fit especially given we were supposedly offered Winks and van de Beek on loan.

I'm so curious what those conditions are because Dele Alli hasn't been a £40 million player in several years now. I really do hope though, like everyone else, he does well and gets his game back

It's a strange one, but I think the structure of the deal allows both clubs to benefit somewhat, if he's a roaring success they'll pay that much and we get good money for strengthening a rival with a 26 year old English player who was previously unplayable on his day. And if he can't rediscover his form, the fee won't ever get that high.

Either way, I'm gutted. Absolutely loved Dele, was such an important part of that Poch team that we all loved so much. Was one of the footballers who started to blur the line between professional and a person we all fell a bit in love with early on.

Hope he rediscovers his form, he was recently great against Liverpool, gonna be sad when he smashes it if Everton can get it right.

Weird business from us - we loaned out 3 creative players and sold Dele - and brought in two good signings. RWB is a massively flawed area, but Conte actively doesn't seem to want any creative midfielders in his squad, so at least this squad is now filled with players Conte will at least want to use. It'll be about backing him in the summer...if we get top 4.

Would be very, very surprised if you were offered Winks. He's actually one Conte likes.

Tbf I don't even know what the source of that was, it's just been spouted on forums this morning. I'd heard murmurs of vdB but today was the first I'd heard of Winks.

Carvalho deal fell through due to the paperwork.

I could see the move going through in the summer and the fee that was agreed yesterday being used as the amount for the tribunal. If both player wants to come to the club I think the deal will still happen.

Apparently Leeds were interested in Minamino as well. I think yesterday has highlighted that Origi is pretty much gonna leave on a free and depending on the figure, we'll let Minamino go in the summer as well.

Would not be shocked if Mane goes in the summer. As much as I'd love us to have Salah/Mane/Firmino/Jota/Diaz as the forward options I really can't see that being the long term plan especially given the ongoing saga with Salah's contract and Manes contract being up soon as well

Yeah, I said it on Twitter when it first happened, but Diaz is here now to be a replacement for someone. It's just a question of is he replacing Mane, or is he replacing Salah, with Mane moving to the right like when he first joined us. There's a slim chance we're keeping them all and only selling Bobby, I guess. But I don't see us starting next season with all 5.

Antonio Conte could make a move for Christian Eriksen in the summer after admitting he was surprised to see the Denmark midfielder back in the Premier League with Brentford.

The Tottenham manager, who worked with Eriksen at Internazionale – they won the Serie A title together last season – thought the player might need more time to recover from the cardiac arrest he suffered last June. Eriksen collapsed in Denmark’s opening Euro 2020 finals game against Finland and needed life-saving treatment on the pitch.

Conte, who is living in a London hotel – his wife and daughter have remained in Italy – enjoyed a chance encounter with Eriksen on Sunday. Eriksen is staying at the same hotel after agreeing a deal with Brentford until the end of the season.

Conte said he had not discussed signing Eriksen as a free agent in January with the Spurs board, mainly because he did not imagine the former club favourite would be ready to play again in England. He will monitor his progress closely over the final months of the season.

Eriksen has been fitted with an implantable cardioverter defibrillator, which meant that Inter had to release him because the rules in Italy do not allow players with such a device to compete. He has not played since the trauma of the Finland game and is working on his fitness for what will be an emotional return with Brentford.

“Honestly, no,” Conte said, when asked whether there had been a discussion about bringing Eriksen back to Spurs. “Honestly, I was surprised about the situation because in my mind, honestly, I thought Christian needed more time before coming back to play in England.

“For sure, Eriksen is part of Tottenham’s story. To come back here would be a good opportunity for him, for me, for the club. Now he’s signed for Brentford … only six months, and we’ll see what happens.

“I was lucky because I met him on Sunday and it was good to speak with him. I saw him with his family and it was good. I met him in the same hotel that we were both staying in. We didn’t prepare the meeting. It was only a coincidence to see him and his family.

“I’m the first person to be happy to see him again on the pitch because we spent a really good time at Inter Milan together. We won the league, we spent two important seasons together. I wish him all the best for the future. And you don’t know what will happen. It would be good for me to have him again, to work together.”

Don't tease me, Antonio.

He only started playing at 15, I believe as well. Took him just 10 years of playing to go from beginning the game, to signing for Arsenal.

I think the move is the wrong decision for a myriad of reasons, but that in and of itself is still incredible
