I'm sort of undecided on it, if it was 8 o clock on a Friday night I'd be annoyed, but Sunday lunchtime? Even away fans can be back at a reasonable time. Granted that would probably allow a gradual shift to Christmas Day football...

I'm more annoyed we're playing Boxing Day lunchtime which means missing out on turkey and chips at my mums.

As a Newcastle supporter and someone with Wilson in their FPL lineup, I definitely agree with the decision to award a pen.

Don't see how it isn't a pen. Hwang's unlucky as he doesn't expect Schar to pinch his pocket, but Schar's tackled him then got kicked as Hwang tries to clear a ball that's no longer there. Is it just the fact he's coming away from goal that makes it unusual, because it's a clear foul.

I've only seen a clip from Sky on twitter and the VAR angle they showed was rubbish but it looked like Hwang pulls his leg and stops the kicking action from that one but I'd need to see another angle

Edit: seen a clip from Reddit. I don't think its clear cut penalty nor its a mistake in being given either. Did the ref get sent to the monitor as it feels like one of them have a look and then dedide

This isn't really a thing, the ref only goes over if the VAR thinks there's been a clear and obvious, that's why the vast majority of onfield decisions are overturned when they go to the screen.

More inconsistent refereeing again today. The one time holding in the box actually gets called.

Hojlund was held back for far longer at The Emirates, arm right across the chest, and fuck all given. Amazing consistency once again.

It is very soft, but silly defending to take the risk, weirdly I thought they were looking at Maguire putting a Tazmission on Stones at first...

On the other hand "I'm not saying he should cheat, but he should definitely cheat in this specific way" is tremendous.

Suffice to say I am not displeased to see Anthony Taylor demoted to the Championship.

It has since been brought to my attention that said demotion is only for one week. So actually it's good to know that 400 terrible performances against Chelsea are acceptable but one penalty against Wolves is where the line is drawn.

Why should Championship teams have to put up with bad referees?
