Slither: 5/10

Too much build-up, not enough killing of characters in gruesome fashions. I mean, I got all excited when they came up with like 10 perfectly good death-scene-fodder (or 7, subtracting the protagonist and girlfriend and...other girlfriend), and what do they do? They tease us by killing off one guy, then wipe out 5 guys in one scene that's hardly memorable, and then half-ass the last kill.

What a fucking let down.

Grindhouse

This may be the high of seeing it talking, but this could be one of my favorite movies of all-time. Is it the greatest movie I've ever seen? No. But it's definitely the coolest.

Wimbledon

Man, I wasn't expecting much from this. My brother gave it to me as a cure for insomnia, no less, but he's a bastard because I'm very wired. The plot was so obvious, I'd guessed it within the first 30-40 seconds, but that didn't stop it from being one Hell of a ride. This one didn't win any awards, and it really shouldn't have, because it's not that type of movie. It was just a very enjoyable way to spend 90 minutes, an underdog story mixed in with a romantic comedy and some really fun moments to boot. Paul Bettany was nice as the journeyman in his last tournament, he's very much an everyman as an actor and that helped the story along, a very British actor to boot. Kirsten Dunst I can usually take or leave, but she was sweet and young and did everything she had to do to capture our hero's heart and inspire him on to new highs. A great supporting cast - James McEvoy, Bernard Hill, Sam Neill - all somewhat underused, but they did their jobs well, and the genuine tennis pros/announcers gave it a good feel.

This movie won't change your life, not one bit, but you'll have a good time watching it. 7/10.

The United States Of Leland: 8/10

Soft-spoken 16-year old Leland Fitzgerald (Gosling) commits a seemingly senseless murder that shocks his community, affecting both his victim's family and his own. Arrested and imprisoned in a juvenile detention facility, Leland comes in contact with an aspiring writer and prison teacher, Pearl Madison (Cheadle). As Pearl delves into the mystery of Leland's crime, he also sees the chance for a career-making book as the boy's estranged father is the world-renowned author, Albert Fitzgerald (Spacey)

I really loved this movie. I've watched it 4 times in the past couple days

Sunshine 7.5/10

Generally a good film, and one with a great feel and style. Some parts of the last twenty minutes are a let down and don't work that well, and whilst no part of the film is bad, no parts really stand-out either. It's just generally a good film.

The Ice Harvest - 6/10

Probably not the best thing Harold Ramis could've done, but this is quite an interesting effort nonetheless. It doesn't really draw you in until the last third where things are just thrown around left and right, but I like that it's a modern noir piece tacking on the sleaze. The performances were probably the best part because Cusack naturally can draw both sympathy and ire from a character and Thornton and Platt can plays low-lifes damn well by this point.

Grindhouse: 9.5/10

This movie is just incredible. The best film I've seen made in the last 10 years. It more than lived up to the hype. And I was expecting a lot too, as I've been anticipating this for the last 6 months. The trailers are all brilliant, more hilarious then the two films. The action in both is incredible. Planet Terror surprised me. It actually had a good plot, I was just expecting mindless zombie killing for 60-70 minutes. Death Proof was superb, though I'm still undecided as to whether or not I prefer it more than Kill Bill volume 1 (I do like it more than v.2 and Jackie Brown). The quality of Grindhouse gets 9.5/10, but the entertainment factor is 10/10. This is the most fun I've ever had in a movie theater.

Pink Floyd: The Wall: 7/10

I finally got to see it, and well it was worth the blind buy. The music is awesome, and well, I can't really explain why I liked it, its not for everyone, but those masks the kids wore creeped me out.

I'm hoping to see it soon, however imdb.com reported in its news that one of the reasons some people didn't think it was that great was they left after Rodriguez' film thinking that was it, and they did not stick around for Death Proof.

IF YOU'RE THINKING OF LEAVING THE THEATER EARLY - DON'T!

(people who have seen it will get that joke).

Casino Royale 7.5/10

Generally a very enjoyable film, that quite close to an 8/10. It doesn't achieve this because the love story at the end dragged on much too long, and after the poker game was all sown up, the film did get worse from that point out. Whilst I was never bored watching it, there were also a couple of bits where the film did get a bit duller.

However, Casino Royale is VERY stylish, well put together and mostly entertaining and enjoyable. Daniel Craig actually impressed me as Bond too, which is something I'd never have imagined possible.

So, its a good film for about an hour and fourty minutes of its two-twenty run time, then the film seems to loose its for ten minutes or so, before the last half an hour is the overly long love story. If Casino Royale hadn't have had these problems, it may have achieved even better.

But yeah, a very enjoyable Bond that I'd watch again. I really hope they've put Die Another Day, one of the worst films I've ever seen behind them and Bond can be this enjoyable in future.

Roseanne - Season 3: 9.5/10

This is the first classic season, just about every episode is superb. Darlene's character really evolves this season. She becomes less or a tomboy and more of what you see in the later seasons. Season 3 is much better than 1 and 2, though 4 and 5 is really when the show hit its peak.

The Office - Safety Training: 4.5/5

What an awesome episode. It had me laughing from start to finish. From Michael continually interupting Daryll in the warehouse to Dwight tossing the watermelon off the roof, this episode was superb. I'm glad Andy's back but I was hoping for a bigger role in his returning episode. All he really did was get the bouncy castle for Dwight. Oh, and Dwight's shun thing was hilarious too.

I've been on an Law & Order kick lately. I prefer Special Victims Unit to Criminal Intent (especially when it's Chris Noth instead of my preferred CI lead, Vincent D'Onofrio). But I've been watching both any time I can, whether it be on USA or NBC on Tuesdays. Christopher Meloni is a fuckin' badass, and Mariska Hargitay is a hottie. Hahaha.

Actually, I'm currently watching Law & Order: SVU (Ritual episode).

Stranger than Fiction 8/10

A very good film overall. Will Ferrell is good, and turns two humerous but not overly funny lines into the films two laugh out loud moments with his excellent delivery. The film has many other funny bits, but its mostly giggle humour rather than belly laughs. Dustin Hoffman is great in his supporting role, as is Emma Thompson.

The only bits I dont really like are the parts where Ferrell's wrist-watch is credited with some form of intelligence, particularly early on, it just seems stupid to me.

Its sort of strange however, that I enjoyed it, I'm giving it an 8, but I'm not sure when I'd want to watch it again. Weird.
