And we've also lost lost Metal Church singer Mike Howe who died at age 55, more than 16 years after his predecessor David Wayne passed awayhttps://www.blabbermouth.net/news/metal-church-singer-mike-howe-dead-at-55/

Sad news about Joey Jordison. I was never a huge Slipknot fan but they headlined Sonisphere in 2011 and they were really great live. That wasn't too long after Paul Gray died and they did a tribute to him on stage, mad to think Joey is gone a decade on. He was a big part of what made that live show so good. 46 is no age at all.

I saw him a couple of times with Slipknot and once as a guest drummer for Korn. As much as Slipknot divide opinion, I think more people than not agree that one of their strengths as a live act has been the fact that every member on stage was always doing something a bit weird. Joey fit that bill perfectly with his solos on a rotating drum kit, and it was a memorable part of each show.

Hate5six, who films a lot of metal and hardcore shows, traveled to Little Rock, Arkansas last week for Terminal Nation's CD release show. It's the first hardcore or metal show to happen here since the pandemic began.

Gloryhammer have sacked their vocalist Thoms Winkler. Separately, someone has allegedly leaked some old band messages that, if legit, show them to be not the nicest types.

In sadder news, Eric Wagner (Trouble / The Skull) has died from Covid.

Didn't Gloryhammer play at Bloodstock recently?

Yep, I saw them!  They played on Sunday 15th.

I'd have liked to go on the Sunday, but I'm still too anxious about public gatherings. Did you see Saxon and Judas Priest? They would have been the biggest draws for me.

I did indeed! Both were great, particularly Priest. They played some songs they've never played live before, like One Shot at Glory from Painkiller.

New Iron Maiden album dropped today. It's got generally positive reviews from music mags and newspapers. I'm about halfway through and am enjoying it overall. Will have to see how it sits after a few full playthroughs.

Despite being a bit bloated, I do actually rate Book of Souls quite highly in their discog, so will be interesting to see how Senjutsu measures up.
