The Old Sony Megathread

I don't think I'd use it an awful lot, but it'd be a nice option to have I suppose.

Just think of the possibilities, man! You could teabag someone, screenshot, BAM. IT'S ON YOUR HARDDRIVE. ACTION TEABAG SHOT.

Well, it would've come in handy the other day during a GTA "Assassin" mission, where I had to pop off about 7 guys, 4 of which on motorbikes. I figured instead of using a gun, I'd just rocket launcher their arse.

After I'd blown them up, I walked up to two guys I'd killed who were still positioned on the bike, with flames coming from them. HAD to take a picture of it with the in-game camera.

Sooo, what's up with the Cagney Burnout 5 Update? I thought it was meant to enable custom soundtracks for the PS3 version of the game, but I can't figure out how to do it. Anybody know?

Yeah, just get the main menu up where you choose to freeburn etc. Go down the list and find "Soundtrack" (I think it's that anyway) Hit across, and then choose custom. If you turn shuffle on, it should then play the songs on your hard drive at random. By pressing R1 (PS3) it'll skip through the songs, just as if you were listening to the songs actually on the game.

Shall try that. Thanks much.

About Resistance 2

On the brink of annihilation, mankind resumes the fight against the unstoppable Chimera on the shores of the United States. And thus the stage is set for Resistance 2, the highly anticipated follow-up to Insomniac Games' best-selling PS3 system launch title. Players will once again step into the war-torn boots of US Army Lt. Nathan Hale, who not only faces near impossible odds on the battlefield, but also constantly struggles with the Chimera virus raging inside his own body. In addition to an epic single-player campaign, Resistance 2 will offer a truly unprecedented eight-player, class-based online co-op campaign and 60-player online competitive multiplayer built upon a 'massive battles, greater intimacy' mantra. Also, players can expect tightly integrated community support via MyResistance.net.

For the longest time now, we've heard that the public beta for Resistance 2 was scheduled for late September. However, now we're hearing that it's being pushed back to early October. The news comes as a mild-mannered note attached to a Resistance 2 press release regarding the North American release date (which is November 4 by the way).

We suspect the slight delay is a direct repercussion of the SOCOM: Confrontation beta delay. With the SOCOM beta running slightly behind schedule, the R2 beta probably found itself following footsteps. The SOCOM beta now ends by October 5, and we'd expect the R2 beta to start no earlier than that.

I'm trying to enjoy my first Friday afternoon off in 2 years with a bit of FIFA 08 online but apparently usually only fags play during the day. I've played 6 matches and every time I've gone into the lead the other person has quit the match. One of em was only 3 minutes in! What's the point?

I know I'm not the best cause I've taken my fair share of beatings too and it's not nice but at least stick it out, right?

A month or so before I bought my PS3, so May or June, I went into GAME and asked the guy if a price drop was expected in the next few months (I mainly did this because when I bought a PS2, Sony dropped the price by about £30 or £40 roughly a month after I bought it). He said even though the 360 was cheaper and would be coming down in price, the PS3 was still massively outselling it, so they had no reason to drop it.

Life With PlayStation is live. Go to Network -> Folding @ Home and you'll be prompted to download and install two files, and from there on out the Folding @ Home option will be replaced by Life With PlayStation (though Folding @ Home isn't going away, it's just being moved apparently).

From Wikipedia's PSN article

On September 18, 2008 the PlayStation 3's Folding@home application became Life With PlayStation. Along with the existing Folding@home functionality, the application also provides the user with access to information "channels", the fist of which being the Live Channel which offers news headlines and weather through a 3D globe. The user can rotate and zoom in to any part of the world to access information provided by Google News and The Weather Channel, among other sources[13].

At E3 2008, Jack Tretton announced a new partnership between Sony and Google which will allow users to upload video content to YouTube from within games. This is also part of the Life With PlayStation service[14].

So.. not it's not really much special. It's just there to give you news and weather on your PS3, seems like a novelty sort of thing.

Not quite sure where to post this, so here it goes. >_>

Just on Thursday, I got myself a shiny new Bravia LCD 1080p TV. My god I fucking love thee. With my old TV, there was a lot of stuff in shadowy places that I just couldn't see because it was too dark, and my TV was at max brightness. Now, everything is so clear, and beautiful. It's wonderful...

...and then I plugged the PS2 in, and I cried. FFIX IS MURDERED! :crying:

The new Burnout update, fucking awesome. It's already revitalised the game for me. So much fun.

Resistance online, people are assholes, and fuckwits. One hit kills is not a fun rule to play with. Not cool at all. It's practically impossible to play a game without the one hit kill rule.

GTA online, I don't even know anybody on it, and I have so much fun just doing free roam. Good times.
