Rooney has been terrible in the last couple of months. Cleverely and Oxlaide Chamberlain can't have played much either.

Has Ox even played much this season? I can't remember him doing anything worth noting.

I think he's clocked up about 11 starts this season in the Premier League.

To be fair to Welbeck, he probably has his best games in an England shirt. Its players like Milner being called up that irritate me. Everyone knows what he can do, he has plenty of experience and isnt even young or very good. Surely its worth picking an untested player in that slot?

I think Milner is a good player but I've not seen a lot from him this season, would have rather seen someone like Osman or Lallana in there.

Wouldn't have Johnson, Cleverley, Ox, Defoe, Rooney or Welbeck in there either... though admittedly I'm struggling to think of too many replacements.

Johnson has been superb all season, bar a little blip in form these last few weeks. When the only other option is Kyle Walker, I know who I'd pick.

I think the lack of replacements is an issue, and he's stuck in a place where people are calling for the younger players to pay their dues in the Under 21's. And there are few players who aren't available to be picked for that team and warrant calling up, because nearly everyone else has been called up. Jay Rodriquez and Lallana are good shouts, but they've hardly had outstanding seasons and people like Rickie Lambart are getting a bit old to be introduced into the team. I'd still have Lambert in over Defoe on the principle of form over a season.

I haven't seen a lot of Johnson this year, but yeah, Walker's not had a good season. I think it'd only work if you had Lennon in front of Walker so you can tap into the chemistry they have at Spurs.

Johnson has a few weaknesses, but I like him. Its refreshing to see a player in an England shirt run at defences. Even if it is the right back. And as everyone says, there arent many other options.

Johnson has always been great going forward, but very suspect defensively. He's improved tenfold in that regard this season though. He's by no means perfect, but without a doubt the best/only option for England.
