Just as an aside, anybody who's put off at starting the books because they've seen the TV show and will know what happens, don't be! I'm almost finished Game of Thrones and I've enjoyed every bit of it so far. There's not much new so far but the characters are much more fleshed out and the world has more detail. I'll hopefully be caught up by the time Season 5 airs.

I think in the first two books, there isn't much difference, but the showrunners really make it they're own from Storm of Swords (third book) onwards.
