My comment about you and Chattanooga was, mostly, about you um, living? in Chattanooga. I didn't know this.

omg lets go to showers together :pervert:

EDIT: I meant "shows", but showers work too.

I live closer to Atlanta than to Chatt now, but Chattanooga is not a commute I mind taking. If there's ever a show(er :shifty: ) you want to catch, throw me a line and we'll throw down.

Edit: Holy keyworks, that Coheed show was loud. They even deviated from the previous sets, swapping out "The Crowing" for "Apollo I: The Writing Writer" (full setlist here). I will say that if you haven't caught their cover of Gotye's "Somebody That I Used To Know", do eet. It's the closest Coheed may ever get to sludge metal. There was also a nice moment where Claudio & Eric snuck a train whistle into "A Favor House Atlantic" (this being a nice touch due to Chattanooga primarily being known for the Chattanooga Choo Choo).

Openers were a mixed bag. Pianos Become The Teeth can't decide if they want to be Pelican or The Used when they grow up, so what you get is a band that is trying to go in too many directions at once. The crowd was respectful, but everyone knew it just wasn't clicking (mainly due to the vocalist just screaming - and usually off-key - through every song). Moving Mountains fared better, mainly because the vocalist actually sung more than screamed. Neither band seemed like they cared for Chatt, but eh. I'd see both again, but Pianos need to figure out how to focus their influences.

Likely taking a break on shows due to finances, but a Kyng/Fair To Midland/10 Years show in July may lure Mrs. M & I out of hiding.

GZA was just announced for Bonnaroo, so he's the first live act that I've seen twice now. He's doing Liquid Swords in it's entirety :w00t: , with some kind of latin jazz band backing him.

Quickly rose up the ranks of sets to see this year.

I saw Rammstein two weeks ago, which might be one of the five best shows I've ever seen. Last Friday went to Boston for Shpongle - which was good. Not like when I saw the Shpongletron, but still good.

Oh hey, here's a thread I never thought I'd post in!

I went to Rammstein on Sunday night. It was awesome.

Since I'm on his channel, here are a few more videos the dude uploaded:

  • 3 weeks later...

We rarely ever get decent bands playing Jersey, so it's a big deal whenever anyone does. So with that in mind, this line-up is insane.

Just of people that I want to see;

The Saturday has:

Van Morrison

Nouvelle Vague

Lee "Scratch" Perry

Wanda Jackson

The Sunday has:

Ray Davies

Joan Armatrading

Badly Drawn Boy

And John Cooper Clarke on both days! Really hoping I can get the Saturday off work, should be fantastic.

I NEED to see Lee Scratch Perry. You are a lucky man. Take me with you!

Seeing Wu Legends (GZA, Raekwon, Method Man and Ghostface Killah) next month. So very, very excited. Jacked, even.

That's bad-ass. GZA is mindblowing live, and I've heard great things about Ghostface Killah. Should be an incredible show.

Booked the day off for that festival I mentioned earlier, really looking forward to it now. Also hopefully going to see Heaven 17 in August, and Arthur Lee in September.

Anyone know of anything much going on around the last two weeks of August in London? Thinking of popping over for a long weekend at some point, not really with anything in mind, but if cool shit's happening, it might help me make up my mind.

Saw Big Business at a secret set at The Croft In Bristol on saturday. Matinee gig, was awesome.

I am jealous. So jealous.

Then again, in just over a week I am going to CopenHell to see Mastodon, Immortal, Slayer, Brutal Truth, Gojira, Meshuggah and Rising. So that sort of makes up for it.

I recently saw The Horrors at Brixton Academy, who were very good, although given that they still play smaller venues fairly frequently, have been better live. They were briefly supported by Bo Ningen if you got there for when doors opened, which I did. They were great, and very loud.

Next live music for me will be provided by the bands at the Rockabilly Rave next weekend.

Saw Bo Ningen at South Street in Reading, which is pretty much an arts community hall. They were awesome, and noisy!

Also have one of their t shirts somewhere.

Bo Ningen are absolutely amazing. I missed them playing a small church in Jersey, soundtracking a silent Japanese animated film, last year. Absolutely gutted.

Not that it's a particularly thrilling shot but here they are being rather undeterred by an empty Brixton Academy:

I've only managed to catch them a couple of times in the last 2 years, hopefully they'll play another London date soon that won't escape my attention.
