Fuuuuuuuck, Ray Davies is one of, if not the best live act I have ever seen. That was fucking incredible. Given that he was immediately preceded by John Cooper Clarke, I don't think my jaw has ever hurt so much from smiling, and I can't remember the last time I found myself singing along to every single word of every song someone played. The entire crowd singing along to Waterloo Sunset was fucking beautiful.

Hell, this whole weekend has been mindblowing. I've seen Ray Davies, John Cooper Clarke twice, Van Morrison, Lee "Scratch" Perry, Badly Drawn Boy, John Shuttleworth, Nouvelle Vague, Joan Armatrading, Rodriguez, Wanda Jackson, Jake Bugg, and a few cool local and unsigned acts. Aside from Perry and Armatrading, nothing disappointed.

It doesn't matter that I ache all over, that I'm sunburned (horribly) for the first time I can remember, that my ears are ringing, I've lost my voice, and I've spent over £100 on cider. It was a fucking beautiful weekend, and I got to meet John Cooper Clarke. Couldn't be fucking happier.

Yeah, Lee "Scratch" Perry is basically a rambling old nutjob with a backing band. It wasn't great.

John Cooper Clarke was the loveliest fucking guy. We bumped into him literally as everyone was being asked to leave, and a few people had very quickly went over to shake his hand and whatnot. He spent ages chatting to one person, signing an autograph book for their daughter, I'd been waiting, he was about to speak to me, and this obnoxious woman just butted in with "I'M A POET TOO!", and hogged his attention for about ten minutes. To his credit, he made a point of kind of talking to everybody at once from then on, addressing the crowd of people, while still signing personalised stuff to this woman and her kids. The security tried to kick everyone out, and he just said "Hang on a second lad, this fella's been waiting", and let me to chat to him for a little while and get a photo with him.

Absolute bloody legend, and all-round nice chap.

Had you never previously been aware that Stone Roses fans are largely thugs, colly?

Well according to his twitter, Joey Barton did go see them

Ah Joey the indie kid, who supposedly tweeted 'OMG, they're playing Waterfall backwards, whats going on?'. Silly Joey, should've had your publicist proof read it first.

Ravey, super jealous. Damn wife, child and mortgage...

I attended Hard Rock Calling in Hyde Park on Friday night, headlined by Soundgarden, supported by Iggy Pop, Cold Chisel (?) and Black Stone Cherry.

We only caught the last song of BSC's set which was a shame. We got a beer and as soon as we left the tent it belted down with rain for a few minutes, then didn't rain all afternoon. We went right to the front, Cold Chisel weren't as bad as we were expecting, people around us singing were either middle-aged, Australian or both. When Iggy Pop came out, shit went mental, we were right next to a mosh pit that consisted of a guy who was a little younger than me and looked like Daniel Radcliffe, Mel Gibson and Ozzy Osbourne.

Soundgarden were fucking amazing. Now the best gig I've been to, for sure. It hadn't rained all afternoon until the 5th song of Soundgarden's set, Black Hole Sun. Just seemed perfect. It wasn't as muddy as expected and the tonnes and tonnes of wood chippings really helped, even though the mixture of mud and wood chippings was horrible. Bet of all is that we got an amazing story from the day as well as the gig.

Got back from Portugal last night and Optimus Alive was awesome. The campsite was quality hada bar, huge swimming pool, footy pitches and loads of shadedareas that were needed since it got over 30 degrees. The festival site was really nice to and some of the highlights were Miles Kane who was quality, Stone Roses, Maccabees, Justice and Radiohead.
