THQ have already released the breakdown for the roster. 38 WWE, 7 WWE Divas, 32 Attitude Era.

I bet a healthy amount of the Attitude Era guys are just going to be alternate attires to people already on the main roster, which would be lame but expected.

Allegedly, this is the roster;

WWE

Alberto Del Rio

Alicia Fox

Beth Phoenix

Big Show

Booker T

Brie Bella

Brock Lesnar

Brodus Clay

CM Punk

Chris Jericho

Christian

Cody Rhodes

Daniel Bryan

David Otunga

Dolph Ziggler

Epico

Eve

Heath Slater

Hunico

Jack Swagger

Jinder Mahal

John Cena

Justin Gabriel

Kane

Kelly Kelly

Kevin Nash

Kharma

Kofi Kingston

Mark Henry

Nikki Bella

Primo

R-Truth

Randy Orton

Rey Mysterio

Santino Marella

Sheamus

Sin Cara

Ted DiBiase

The Great Khali

The Miz

The Rock

Triple H

Undertaker

Wade Barrett

Zack Ryder

ATTITUDE ERA

Animal

Big Bossman

Big Show (Attitude)

Billy Gunn

Bret Hart

British Bulldog

Cactus Jack

Chris Jericho (Attitude)

Christian (Attitude)

Dude Love

Eddie Guerrero

Edge

Godfather

Hawk

Kane (Attitude)

Ken Shamrock

Lita

Mankind

Mark Henry (Attitude)

Mike Tyson

Mr. McMahon

Road Dogg

Shane McMahon

Shawn Michaels

Stephanie McMahon

Stone Cold

The Rock (Attitude)

Triple H (Attitude)

Trish Stratus

Undertaker (Attitude)

Vader

X-Pac

So that's eight that are just alternate attires - and in most cases probably near-identical movesets too. Even within the Attitude era roster, you have an additional three - all of Foley's - that are basically just different attires for the same guy.

On top of that, of the exciting new additions of the Attitude Era, you have Vader, LOD, Eddie Guerrero and Stone Cold, all of whom were in the previous game.

That aside - there's some nice touches. Playing as Cactus Jack, Boss Man, Shamrock and Mike Tyson in a new game is kinda cool - but it shouldn't be the focus of a yearly updated game, especially when I'm sure we're gonna end up with a bunch of current roster guys that don't make the cut and should.

You can't have Ryback or Lord Tensai, but don't worry guys, you can play as Stephanie McMahon or Lita! But not those two guys she hung around with, they're not important.

Wasn't it reported somewhere that DDP did voice-acting for this game too? So there's a chance we might end up with some unlockable WCW guys from the same kind of time period? That could make it kinda cool, and give the game an advantage over "go back and play the old WWF games if you want to play as Ken Shamrock", by being able to put on classic WWF vs. WCW matches.

Also, where the heck is Goldust?

Yeah, that roster looks fine. Most of the "Attitude" guys are either alternate attires for the current roster or legends that we already had previously. There's only a small handful of "new" additions and the "WWE" roster looks like it includes everybody of importance to me.

Edit: Also, having just read that article, the Attitude Mode sounds kind of exciting. It's something different at a time when we need it. I can see why it would alienate some people, but it's just a breath of fresh air to the tired Road to WrestleMania format.

Apparently Gangrel was scheduled, but since the WWE doesn't have licence for the name anymore, he was dropped

WWE never had the rights to it. They paid some towards it, but they never fully owned it. Hence whyhes David Heath formerly known as Gangrel, in the WWE encyclopedia. EDIT: scratch this., jst read what he said properly. my bad.

The Attitude Era mode seems closer to what you find in MMA games such as UFC 3. They have the historical fight with a list of objectives and your goal is to complete those objectives. The added bonus here is that you'll get a whole storyline out of it instead of just one match.

And what happens 3 weeks after release? when you realise you spent £40 on a game 10 years out of date? and your tired of Boss Man vs XPac in Universe mode every single week. Nostalgia sells sure, but it rubs off pretty quickly too.

The same thing that happens 3 weeks after you bought WWE12 and got tired of Ted DiBiase vs Yoshi Tatsu every week in Universe Mode?
