Northern Ireland and Wales are set to play each other in March as part of preparations for the Euro 2016 finals. It is understood weeks of negotiations have ended in agreement for a friendly to be staged at the Cardiff City Stadium on Thursday, 24 March.

Uefa’s executive committee has passed a decision to use goal-line technology at Euro 2016 this summer and in the Champions League from next season.

Suspended president Michel Platini had been a long-time opponent of technology but he allowed Uefa officials to review its use for Euro 2016 in his native France before his ban.

The success of goal-line technology in the Premier League and World Cup proved crucial, especially after high-profile incidents in major competitions. Ukraine were denied a goal against England at Euro 2012, while two years earlier Frank Lampard was denied a World Cup goal for England against Germany.

Uefa will maintain its system of having an extra official behind each goal-line as well as the technology.

I prefer to use any mention of goal line technology to remind everyone of Jonathan Pearce during France vs Honduras because Jonathan Pearce is an idiot.

The best part about the Lampard 'goal' is how the fact England got absolutely spanked by Germany in that game is always left out. As if a pot shot from outside the box was going to suddenly turn them into a good enough team to beat that German side.

Euro 2016 matches could be played behind closed doors in the event of a terror alert at this summer's finals.

European football's governing body Uefa is drawing up anti-terror contingency plans for the event in France.

The move follows November's Paris attacks, which included attempts to detonate explosives at the Stade de France during a France v Germany game.

"If there is a security issue, we would need to play the match without fans," tournament director Martin Kallen said.

Moving matches to different venues is another option being considered.

"It's possible that matches would be postponed or played later," Kallen added. "But today there are no signs of any extreme threats or alarming issues."

The international friendly between France and Germany at the Stade de France was one of several targets in the 13 November attacks, although suicide bombers were thwarted in their attempts to get into the stadium.

Explosions were heard by people inside the ground but the match continued. Many fans went on to the pitch at the end of the game as it started to become clear what was unfolding in the city - the attacks left 130 people dead and many more seriously injured.

The German national team remained in the stadium overnight.

The Stade de France will host the opening game of the tournament between France and Romania on 10 June, as well as the final and other matches.

Wednesday marks 100 days to the start of the finals.

"Behind closed doors" ought to mean that nobody except the players and coaches are allowed in the stadium, with no reporters or television cameras let in. We'd then find out what was going on when one of the players poked their head outside the door every few minutes to give us a quick update.

Yeah, close the stadiums so the 60,000 people who would be inside it, behind rigorous safety checks and stewarding will be in bars and out on the streets. They'll be nice and safe there... :shifty:

And its not like the regular beer in France is a mere 9% on average, my favourite being Goudale. Grimbergen being a close second.

Important bump. The sticker book is out.

Also I'll probably be doing the standard 'guess the scores' game if people are interested.

You lucky sod. One of the only benefits to having a kid is being able to buy the sticker book without looking like a plum.

Plum it up.

You can also spend a good length of time fingering those mystery Lego men bags without ridicule. "She wants the janitor".

What I do to my Danish friends is my concern.
