Liverpool are throwing money everywhere.

I dunno, the fees seem to be more reflective of the way transfers are now. The club has been fairly laser-focused on big deals in the last couple of windows. Which is nice having gone through some of the silliness of Liverpool transfers in the last decade or more.

Remember when Suarez was replaced by Balotelli and Rickie Lambert?!?!?!

Good times...

There had been years of just trying to get value for money or not wanting to spend the money. Not just under FSG mind you.

Yep. It also means that all the top 20 transfer fees paid belong to just 7 clubs (PSG (2), Barcelona (4), Man Utd (3), Juventus (2), Real Madrid (5), Liverpool (2) and Man City (2)) and all top 50 fees now come in the 21st century

You'd think Liverpool would have learnt their lesson with Milan Baros about buying previously unknown players on the back of good tournaments.

I like how you use the Baros example who wasn't that bad of a player for us compared to the El Hadji Diouf option who was fucking awful and one of the worst modern Liverpool signings.

Diouf was bought before the world cup, so it doesn't fit the example.

Replace with Salif Diao then. Just as awful.

Supposedly we've accepted a bid from Leicester for Danny Ward. Journos are saying it's meant as competition for Kasper  Schmeichel rather than replacing him .

Again, signed before the World Cup, not a good example.

They were still both shit.

And tbf Baros wasn't a bad player for Liverpool so that's not a good example either 🤷‍♂️

To be fair, both Salif Diao and El Hadji Diouf won more domestic league titles than Gerrard did.

To be fair I think the history books and people within the game will be saying that Gerrard was a better player and had a better career 🤷‍♂️
