Hard to believe this is the same Lookman that played for us. Phenomenal work by Atalanta, and at least Leverkusen finished the Bundesliga season invincible before this.

Long term, I actually think Leverkusen are better off for having lost? Now they don't go into the new season with the "oh when will they lose, how will it affect them" chatter hanging over them.

If Atalanta are 5th anyway and Serie A gets 5 spots, why does that part matter? Unless there's talk of granting a 6th spot.

m8 this is gonna sound crazy but long term I think they’d be better off by winning a European trophy so years from now the fans would be able to say “hey remember when we won that European trophy” rather than “hey remember that time we lost after five games to Bochum and it wasn’t such a big deal because we’d already blown the final against Atlanta the season before”

Tomato, tomato. They already won their first league title ever and qualified for the CL, which was the prize offered to the UEL winners. So obviously it's a shame and they'll be disappointed, but it's a decent silver lining!
