Listening to the new Rammstein compilation, Made in Germany. More specifically the remix CD where different artists have taken some liberties with Rammstein's songs; specifically the Devin Townsend remix. It is so silly that I loved it immediately.

Nightwish. Imaginaerum.

Completely fantastic. There's only one track I'm not a big fan of - Slow, Love, Slow - and that's only because the style's quite an abrupt departure from Nightwish's usual fare. Otherwise I love it.

Fucking brilliant. Unreleased from Death Magnetic sessions. They played it live last night and sent out this. Now them playing the 30-year celebration shows, maybe they will bring out the three other ones that didn't fit on the album as well. If they are even close as good as this one, bring them on.

I am also loving Nightwish's new Imaginaerum album, it's going pretty high on my favourite albums of the year. Scaretale is a brilliant song.

I listened to Korn's 'future metal/dubstep' album Path of Totality yesterday. Oh dear. Two main problems with it (aside from the fact it's fucking boring):

1 - The 'new genre' hype is a load of bollocks, as expected. It's a watered-down version of Prodigy, in the same way that - despite practically inventing the genre - they play a watered-down version of nu-metal.

2 - The lyrical content. Usual inward-looking shite, plus a track where the lead singer accuses Barack Obama of being in the illuminati; then another where the clear solution for the economic crisis is for all the hippies to just go get a job and then party. It's as though these views come from a millionaire living in a mansion with his pornstar wife and does nothing but watch Fox News.

In preparation for Kvelertak live tomorrow, I have decided to listen to some of the warm-up bands. So tonight I'll be going through the latest efforts of Toxic Holocaust, The Secret and Wolves Like Us. Couple with a few beers and ciders I think this is going to be good preparation for tomorrows gig. So far I can tell that Toxic Holocaust is heavy Reign in Blood-era Slayer worship. Wolves Like Us is supposedly post-hardcore and I have no idea what The Secret is.
