One more season left of the Wire, any tips for another classic show to watch? I'm burned out of movies and want to watch so many damn tv shows that I love to watch some classic, great tv.

It would be easier to recommend if you could cover the ones you have seen.

What kind of show would you want to watch? Comedy, drama, etc.

Kind of hard to suggest because TV has been pretty fucking good since like 2009.

You might like Treme if you liked The Wire. It's by David Simon and Eric Overmeyer, and is largely about the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina for New Orleans. It's set 3 months after the hurricane, and has a great cast: John Goodman, Kim Dickens, Clarke Peters, David Morse, Khandi Alexander, and the list goes on. It's a much more straightforward drama and not a crime show like The Wire was, but it was still an excellent show.

Likewise, Show Me A Hero. Also by David Simon. 6-part miniseries set in the late 1980s/early 90s based on the life and times of Nick Wasicsko, who is a former police officer who rises through the ranks to become the mayor of Yonkers, NY and become one of the youngest mayors of a big city in history (at the time). A big theme is desegregation, and Wasicsko's fight to desegregate public housing in Yonkers.

That's basically why I was asking because that's #1 with a bullet if you haven't seen that but if you have...a little more difficult.

Which ones did you like? If you liked Breaking Bad, then Better Call Saul should be on your list.

Does anybody watch Love? I really, really like a lot of the people involved in it so I watched the first episode and it didn't grab me at all. Does it get remarkably better or something?

The Sopranos it is then!

Other than that, the aforementioned Better Call Saul, Sneaky Pete (for the Justified fan in you), or True Detective (some people would say skip the second season but there are good parts, just doesn't hit the highs of season one). And Terriers. Always Terriers.

Definitely The Sopranos. What a show that was. Could also give Oz a crack.

Oz is that prison show right? With Simmons? Some guys who are in the wire too?

Anyway, thanks for all the tips guys!

Most of the people in The Wire are in Oz. Well, not all, but a shit tonne of them. Its worth a look unless you are a bit squeamish about the gay sex or rape or violence.
