I wanted Evra to stay. We've lost the experience of Rio and Vidic already and Evra seems like one of the true leaders in the changing room. Plus now we have no cover/rotation for Shaw who could have done with a season of help from Evra. In terms of fitness he seems to hardly ever miss a league game even at 33. Must have consistently played 30+ games a season (40-50 with all other competitions included) for the past 8 years, the majority of which he's been great for us.

If Hummels signs for £16 million that's a fantastic deal! Wouldn#t mind having Vermaelen as well, he's not some big name signing but at £10 million isn't too bad of a price and can do a job for us.

We still need at least another midfielder and winger though.

Kroos went for that because his contract runs out next year and he wouldn't sign a new one. Hummels is contracted until 2017.

If we need a midfielder then it's on the left. Lamela looked good coming in from the right against Seattle - he's more an attacking player who plays down the right rather than a winger.

Yeah, Lamela-Eriksen-Griezmann could be a pretty fantastic three to have behind a striker. But that's if both Lamela and Griezmann adapt to the league like they hopefully will. Still, we desperately need someone to play down the left; Lennon and Townsend don't look good on that flank.
