FCD are at it again.  They sign Anibal Chala from El Nacional in Ecuador (club has most Libertadores app than any Ecuadorean club and is the club where Antonio Valencia, Felix Borja, Christian Benetiz came from).  He went pro at 16 and he's already got over 100 STARTS for El Nacional.

POR signs David Guzman, CDM from Saprissa (26, has 9 caps for Costa Rica).  This looks a lot like the Chara signing which would be great if it works like that.

FCD has signed Roland Lamah (Belgian, Winger, 5 caps, decent scoring record for winger and still only 28) as well as Jose Salvatierra (starting RB for Alajualense and has 28 caps Costa Rica)

Thread title fixed.

Pretty excited about the Shipp trade, that's about as good as a Lodeiro backup as you could expect in MLS.

Shipp move is huge.

And thanks @GoGo Yubari !!!! Nice of you to acknowledge FCD's double :pervert:  What do you make of the Briun deal?  Valdez not coming back?

The Chicago Fire brought former LA Galaxy star M Juninho back to MLS on Dec. 23, announcing a season-long loan from Club Tijuana via the Allocation Process, a move that also involved Minnesota United.

Atlanta United acquired D Greg Garza on Dec. 23 via the announcement of a season-long loan from Club Tijuana.

Columbus Crew SC announced the signing of Finnish international D Jukka Raitala from Norwegian club Sogndal on Dec. 23.

Houston Dynamo announced today they have signed Honduras National Team F Romell Quioto, who arrives on a transfer from CD Olimpia of Honduras' Liga Nacional.

Seattle Sounders announced on Dec. 23 that they have acquired F Will Bruin from Houston Dynamo in exchange for Targeted Allocation Money and General Allocation Money.

Yeah, the Bruin deal is exactly because Valdez isn't coming back. They offered him a new contract at a significantly lower salary (as they should have) and he didn't accept, which is understandable. Lagerwey basically explicitly said that Bruin's here to replace Valdez and Shipp is here to replace Ivanschitz.

Yeah, I like Ivanschitz too. I wasn't surprised that Valdez wasn't coming back but I figured that they were just going to restructure Ivanschitz's contract. Definitely think there are MLS teams that should make an offer if he wants to stay in North America.

Yeah there's several clubs that can use him.  Hopefully someone reaches out AND he wants to stay.

On Dec. 26, Kansas City Star writer Sam McDowell reported that Sporting KC had reached agreements in principle with wingers Latif Blessing and Gerso Fernandes. Blessing – just 19 years old – won MVP of the Ghana Premier League after leading with 17 goals, while Fernandes has made 14 appearances for Belenenses in Portugal's first division.

Spanish LB/LM Ayoze Garcia, who most recently played with the New York Cosmos, told El Dorsal that he's not interested in signing with his hometown club, CD Tenerife, but is instead expecting to sign with an MLS team for 2017.

Been incredibly quiet for us this off season. All I ask is for Stewart and Curtin to figure out if they want Edu as a CB or CDM, so they can buy an upgrade at the other spot. And a quality striker. The back line was generally awful in the second half of the season. Marquez is fine enough, but Yaro is not ready, and Tribbett doesn't belong in the league. Carroll is sadly just past it to be a regular in the XI, and Creavalle - while I really like him as a squad player - lacks the discipline and consistency. Up top, it just seems like Charlie Davies isn't going to ever get a chance, and Sapong lacks the consistently and finishing skills. By no means do I hope we lose him though, just need an upgrade.

... Expecting another goalkeeper to be signed instead. It's still The Union after all :shifty:
