United should just keep Henderson next year and play him. He's had a solid year in the Prem and helped his team be in the position they are, what's the harm in giving him a chance moving forward?

What I will say about Maguire, is the concern I had right at the start.

He's been solid, but also looked shaky at times and has cost us more than the 1 goal that the stats would tell you. And for 80m, people are always going to jump all over that. At that fee, it was always going to be almost impossible for him to repay it.

Yeah, I wonder what kind of defender could repay such a massive £70 million plus fee... 😉

Yeah I've always believed it but Maguire just isn't very good. When you pay a world record fee,  you expect a world class centre back to slot in and run things at the highest level. He looks shaky when bringing the ball out, which is his supposed strength and he's got no pace. His positioning isn't great, he gets done 1v1 too often and he thinks he's a much better passer than he is.

Like he's solid and certainly not terrible. But he's a living example of this nonsense English tax that seems to exist on fees.

Maguire would probably be a regular if not a starter at just about any club. But that doesn't make him world-record fee good.

I don't think he has enough pace to start for any club and he's only going to get less mobile as he ages.

Some bizarre criticism of Maguire here based off of a loss to one of the best teams in the country. He's come in and done exactly what we payed a world record fee for him to do - continue our impressive defensive record whilst massively improving our ball progression. No defender in the country progresses the ball like Maguire does and he's got the fourth best ball progression statistics of any player - not just defender - any player in the Premier League.

Y'all are overreacting to a bad performance.
