Restaurant Impossible did an episode here in TN last season, I think, that was in Louisville. I've delivered to there as a Doordasher a few times, but haven't passed by that restaurant yet. I don't pick up orders in Louisville, just deliver orders to there. Its not that far away from me.

Cannot recommend X enough for fans of throwback horror. It's a love letter to Tobe Hooper, explicitly set in 1979 and filmed like it was made in 1979, putting the "porn" in nostalgia porn, but it's so much more besides. If you do check it out, be sure to stick through the credits.

My favorite film of the year thus far (though I have a Jordan Peele and a Robert Eggers coming up to hopefully contend).

We wtached Nightmare Alley - we're big fans of Del Toro's work so we liked a lot about it. I felt like I kept waiting for the plot to jump into 2nd gear but it didn't and that's totally his style anyway. I felt like really good, extended morality play in many ways. Bradley Cooper did a very good job as well as most of the cast.

Didn’t think I’d be watching Will Smith bitch slap Chris Rock on live television today but here we are.

All over what, as far as I can tell, was a pretty innocuous joke. Bizarre.

EDIT: and I'm also seeing some people on Twitter say Puffy played peacemaker between the two afterward?

Uncensored version:

The joke was a low blow as his wife has been outspoken about her alopecia before, and she was visibly disappointed with the joke.

I mean there was probably a better way to respond than slapping the shit out of a guy on literally the biggest stage, but I don’t entirely blame him for doing it, either.

Yeah I'm still gonna say you don't get to assault a person for making a joke you or your wife didn't like or took offense to. It's kinda weird to me how Twitter - and I'm sure more of the internet at large by tomorrow - are trying to portray Will Smith as being some sort of "badass" here. But oh well, I'm sure in two weeks we'll have all forgotten anyway and it won't matter.

Certainly don’t think Smith is a hero or anything but I’m also not gonna take the approach others are taking that he should be thrown in jail over this or something.

The real shock of it all is the venue really.  Most other settings that would be just about the reaction I’d expect. Go up to a couple at a bar and insult the wife to her face and see what happens.  Doesn’t matter if violence is the right thing to do or not, you’re overwhelmingly likely to get cracked.

Certainly made his eventual acceptance speech all the more awkward.

I think I just don't really care on either side of this. Will Smith was wrong and frankly it was insane watching him try to rationalize it in his speech with all the "protector" stuff, and also Chris Rock's joke was real tacky so I don't really feel bad for him either. Simultaneously an unbelievably embarrassing moment for all parties involved and also the kind of thing that's saved this Oscars from being the least talked-about broadcast they've ever done. So whatever, I guess.

Going to be a wonderful 2 weeks of the very worst people in the world putting Chris Rock on a pedestal as a hero of free speech.

Also, EDIT: as if on cue, one of my cousins texted me that "Will Smith is a little bitch" and when I said that the joke was out of line, he texted back that "The PC police have killed comedy. I'm glad George Carlin wasn't alive to see this."

(FOR REAL EDIT: dang it livid)

I think it's a good thing George Carlin didn't have to see someone struggle for laughs so much that they made a joke about alopecia.

The jokes in poor taste. You've gotta take into account the person in the joke, if they'd find it funny, context etc. Like I'm all for shock/dark humour, I listen to depressing stuff for a job so it's part of a coping mechanism but she's been pretty open about how alopecia affects her.

I don't blame him for his reaction but you don't go around slapping people in the face. You just can't it's an assault end of the day and not really a mature way of dealing with it. You're viewed as a role model to some people and that's what you do and then you try to justify yourself.

There's no winner here, it's just two full grown men who've embarrassed themselves on a very large stage.

The joke was in poor taste, but Smith's response was equally poor along with his weak excuse in his speech. Doing that on live TV just sets a tone for anyone to be a Will Smith now and physically assault a comedian if they don't like what they hear.
