Saw Hugo the other day. Seriously an amazing film, and just as the ads say, it does utilize the 3D aspect as great as Avatar did. I can't be bothered to see it again as there's other movies and games coming out that I want to see or play, but I'm sure it will be out around my birthday, and I'll snag it the day it comes out.

Fright Night was pretty enjoyable. Colin Farrell was pretty fantastic and proved that In Bruges wasn't just a fluke and that he does have talent. Everybody else did a fine job with their roles and the story was never really boring. I also really enjoyed the soundtrack/score.

For the record, I have not seen the original so I don't know how it compares.

The Crow is a classic and one of the more forgettable comic book adaptations to a movie. And the new blu ray edition makes it look even more awesome. 8/10

So, it's forgettable, but an awesome classic? I see.

Oh, also saw Breaking Dawn. Summ wasn't lying about the HOLY SHIT moment being HOLY SHIT, I nearly jumped out of my seat.

He lied about the movie being decent, though. LIAR.

Just saw this. I'm glad I wasn't the only one nearing jumping to the ceiling.

And eh, it was decent. In the same vein as the other films, they're decent.

I watched Warrior and 50/50 today... Thoroughly enjoyed both movies...

I echo whoever said earlier bout the commentators in Warrior been annoying as shit, made me want to punch the screen everytime they were on... Thought the acting from Hardy, Nolte and Edgerton was decent though and made the movie good...

50/50 was what it was and had just the right amount of comedy mixed with drama for me to find it likable... I thought it might be awkward with Rogen in there (admittingly I haven't seen Funny People) but it wasn't and JGL once again proved to me that he is a good actor...

I watched A Serbian Film. Just horrible. Not in a total "won't someone think of the children" way. More in a "oh god really? What the fuck was the point of that, this has obviously been written by a man" kind of way.

Just horribly masculine in all the wrong ways and does nothing to dispel the whole men = sex pests, feminazi line. I get that was the writers intention, but to prove a point by making a movie that sends that exact message is either far too meta for me or just fucking stupid.

Plus I could have happily existed without ever having to see a man rape his son, it's bad enough dealing with kids that have had this happen to them, without seeing a realistic depiction of it done for a cheap thrill. My first thought was that you were meant to find some of the scenes erotic and then question what that says about you as a person. But I think it was an attempt to give the writer far too much credit. Puts the torture and the porn into torture porn.

50/50 was brilliant, if I was the kind of person who cried at films I think I might've teared up a bit. Very emotional with a bunch of dry comedy in there. JGL was fantastic and the supporting cast were all good, would definitely recommend it.

Also watched The Godfather for the first time. Really enjoyed it but I don't feel it was the best film ever made which a lot of people claim it to be. I felt it dragged a little bit at times, but overall I thought it was a great picture - some really great turns and some very shocking moments in it. Looking forward to Part 2.

Are there really still people that claim it's the best film ever made? I mean yeah it's pretty good and probably amazing for the time, but there's been so many films I thought were better. I wouldn't even say it's Coppola's best.

Anyone who claims The Godfather is their favourite film is a great big liar trying to come across as being intellectual about film. Every other A-Level Film Studies student tries this trick.

Your favourite film is the one that, after watching it ten times, you're still taken aback by - a film you will give your undivided attention to despite the typical distractions around you, a film you can wax lyrical about for hours, and a film that makes you involuntarily smile throughout as it's so pleasurable. Simple as that.

Watched Horrible Bosses with the Duchess of Baconhill a few days back. Very funny aside from everything involving the dentist woman, which was awful and sexist.

Basically, it was a very funny movie with incidental rampant misogyny, and the fact that it's how it ended made me sad because the shit with Kevin Spacey Obviously Phoning It In Again was much better.

I have to agree with this. When I first watched The Godfather I absolutely loved it, but once I'd seen it all and loved it all, I couldn't bring myself to go and rewatch it because there's so much filler stuff that you don't WANT to see again.

Today I watched Ladykillers by the Coen brothers. Been working my way through their films over the past couple of months and despite having seen this on TV over summer, figured I'd watch it again. It's awkward, funny and the old woman is a fucking hoot. Another great effort by the Coen's although nothing quite manages to beat 'No Country..' for me.

Are these two things mutually exclusive?
