I know Bay isn't the greatest of directors but i always struggled to comprehend what people expected to see from a live action big budget version featuring big-ass robots fighting other big-ass robots.

Sure the human characters were annoying but other than that i enjoyed the films.

Ok i'll give you that but 30 seconds of film should not overwrite the other 6 hours of film. The second one was the weakest but still it wasn't god-awful terrible.

And yeah as i said the human actors were shit. But it also introduced us to Megan Fox straddling a bike.

And the horrible racial stereotype robots.

And the senile, old robot

And the zero character development robots.

Sexy, looks exactly like a human, negating the need for the Decepticons to hide as vehicles as they could just infiltrate the human race undercover ninja assassin robots that disappear completely after one scene.

And wanting to see every human character killed in a fire.

Meh, LaBeouf's not even in the top 10 of things wrong with the franchise. Like I've said numerous times, outside of the franchise he's a solid actor. I mean, it's not like Bay gives him a whole lot to work with.

Also, you guys keep naming shit from the second movie, not the entire franchise. :P

I dunno, I'd still rather he wasn't a thing that people kept putting in films. Lawless would've been as good with anyone else.

I don't know, I think he was pretty good in that. Maybe it could've worked with someone else, maybe not but he didn't detract from the role so I have no complaints. But I first realized how solid he was in A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints and that came pre-Transformers so I've always given him the benefit of the doubt.

Dazed and Confused is a damn great film.

This has been ROC Notes The Obvious. Join us next week when I'll watch something else everyone already loves!

Yeah, it's actually made me think about writing a similar movie like a bajillion times.

I mean, like, you know porn exists, right? You don't need to get your kicks in the movie theatre while watching a kid's movie.

Yeah, if anything, at least Megan Fox accomplishes what she's hired to do: get horny guys with nothing better to do to pay up to watch her movies.

Don't know why she just doesn't do porn, though. Probably make a lot more money that way.

The toy line was at it's peak in the 80s and 90s and the reason the movies were made was based on that nostalgia. Them being based on a toy line is irrelevant when the movies are rated PG-13 and clearly not aimed at kids. You're only using that as the basis of your argument in an attempt to shame him, despite the fact that his reaction is Bay's intention. Disagree with that tactic employed by Bay if you want but that doesn't mean that they are kids movies.

Watched Oz The Great And Powerful on Blu-ray tonight, and tried very hard to just take it for what it was, instead of comparing it to the 1939 classic and Return to Oz, a nostalgia-tinted guilty pleasure of mine.

It was... just "there." Mila Kunis was godawful across the board in this one. There were some things I like, but Kunis just hit all the wrong notes across the board. I didn't buy her as naive and innocent before the transformation, and after the transformation I don't feel she took things far enough. I would have enjoyed it more if she simply hammed it up across the board with cackling and bravado but it seems like she didn't do shit and threw out a few half-assed angry screams here and there. I liked Kunis in Forgetting Sarah Marshall and heard she did a good job in Black Swan, but I was EXTREMELY disappointed in her performance here.

I've seen a lot of people ragging on Franco, but he didn't bother me that much. Oz is a pretty sleazy character, and he brought that out. He could have been worse. I didn't mind the voice performance of Zach Braff.

The China Doll was a really good CGI character and vocal performance, I thought. She was one of the few characters that actually managed to make me feel anything.

Rachel Weisz was fun. I wish she had played the WWotW character instead of Kunis, but I appreciated the fact that she actually made some acting choices with her role instead of just saying lines.

Michelle Williams did the best job, IMO. I never really cared for Glinda, but she gave the character a real sense of sweetness and nobility without any of it seeming unnatural. This was the best performance in the film, I felt.

I don't entirely regret watching it, it wasn't that great, it wasn't that terrible.

Monsters University was fucking awful.

Kongo has no soul....

It really isn't anything special, but it's harmless fun for kids and nostalgia for the late teens/early 20's crowd. I can see why you'd dislike it, though.
