There are a lot of reasons going into the move, but it's good for both Atlanta and the Braves in a lot of ways.

Cabrera will move over to 1st for sure. For the Tigers this gives them a lot of flexibility, for the Rangers this locks them into Fielder for what will surely be declining years at some point. Both teams can benefit here, but for the Rangers it is very much a "win now" decision.

If Dombrowski now locks up Scherzer with the money freed up he'll look like a genius.
