The problem here is that Lovren shouldn't have put himself in the position to give away that penalty.

He grabbed him, which is a foul (or should be). How easy Fred went down is an issue, but as soon as Lovren puts his hands on him, he is asking for a penalty to be given against him.

That's coming from someone who plays as a centre back - whilst I'd be pissed off if that was given against me, I probably shouldn't have done that in the first place.

I play centre back and in our league you can get away with anything just because the refs are either old and senile, fat and can't move much or just don't know the rules. Two footed challenges are normally just fouls, if a ref gave that in a Saturday league/Sunday league game it'd be a miracle
