Tom Lawrence and Mason Bennett of Derby County have been charged with drink driving. Both fine, Lawrence went to hospital as a precaution.

Did they crash into each other? Why have they both been arrested?

And it just keeps getting better:

Derby captain Richard Keogh is out for the season with a serious knee injury suffered in the collision. The club released a statement saying Keogh and a few team mates including Lawrence & Bennett stayed at a team-building night past a reasonable hour and got drunk, leading to this mess.

Spoiler

Spoilered as fairly graphic image.

“Did it in training”

Poor old Wayne Rooney is turning up a few months later, he’s missed all the drinking fun.

According to Blackburn Rovers player, the players left the scene of the accident with Keogh in the back of one of the cars unconscious.

They realised he was missing when they got back to one of their flats, proceeded to return to the scene and ambulances and police were already there tending to Keogh.

It should be the main story at the moment but because it wasn't a huge club it's a little shunted out of the general coverage. Even Sky Sports News having to fill time desperately haven't really been all over it which you'd think they should be. It's absolutely unbelievable that it's happened. We'll get the stories like "(insert big club player here) spotted leaving nightclub after clubs defeat!" and we know that they'll be out and having a few drinks or whatever but for something so ridiculously off the rails to come of it you'd think it'd be THE sports story right now.

Barnsley have sacked Daniel Stendel. So Joey Barton at Fleetwood has actually outlasted him.

Did Barton get charged in the end?
