What bothers me is it's meant to intervene for "clear and obvious", when it was neither of those things. The linesman is made to look a twat despite making a good call.

There's something puzzling going on on Radio 5. Steve McLaren (in his infinite wisdom) says Mata was clearly offside and they're also saying the linesman 'got it right' for flagging for offside but the replays I've seen he doesn't flag, he doesn't even look like he considers it because Mata is clearly level.
