  1. I don't know if anyone here is a fan of Digimon but in 2015 Digimon celebrated it's 15th anniversary. To celebrate Toei Animation kicked off a 6-part movie series that acts as a direct sequel to Digimon Adventure 01 and Digimon Adventure 02. They've just released the 4th movie. So far it has been enjoyable but I have a few problems:
  2. Some of the artworks I mentioned: Stratovarius - Visions (1997) Blind Guardian - Imaginations From The Other Side (1995) Running Wild - Black Hand Inn (1994) And something more recent: Crystal Viper - Queen of The Witches (2017)
  3. My favorite metal covers are those drawn by German artist Andreas Marschall. He is mostly known for drawing the covers for all of Blind Guardian's albums in the 90s. He also designed the covers of the first 3 and the latest 2 HammerFall albums, Grave Digger's "Heart Of Darkness" & "Tunes Of War", In Flames' "The Jester Race", "Whoracle" and "Colony", Rage's "Black Mind", "Trapped" and "End Of All Days", Statovarius' "Visions" and everything for Running Wild from 1991 to 1998 including their magnum opus "Black Hand Inn". And those are just his most well known works. He also did covers for a lot of other bands. He used to be one of the most sought after cover artists in Europe in the 90s. In the 2000s he decided to focus on aspects of his career other designing album covers. Amongst other things he directed music videos and small feature films. But recently he made a comeback. As mentioned above HammerFall are working with him again, he has been drawing for Obituary since 2005 and he is also doing covers for bands such as Orden Ogan, Crystal Viper, Symphonity, Holly Cross and Warbringer. Is it okay to hotlink pictures from Amazon?
  4. Wasn't Affleck slated to co-write and direct his Batman movie as well? To be honest I was kinda looking forward to that. He was the only good thing about Batman V Superman and he is a good director. Shame.
  5. As I Lay Dying singer Tim Lambesis is out of prison. If you don't know the story: Tim Lambesis was caught trying to hire a hitman to murder his estranged wife (now ex-wife) in May 2013. He asked someone at the gym he goes to if he knew someone who would kill his wife. The guy reported Lambesis to the police. Lambesis was arrasted in a sting operation when he handed an undercover cop an envelope containing 1000$ for expenses, a picture of his wife, her adress, a security code to get through the gate and a date on which to kill his wife and told him that he wanted his wife gone. He was willing to pay 20.000 $ for the hit. He was sentenced to six years in prison in spring of 2014. Now he is out. In fact he has been out for a while. He was released on parole on December 17 2016. His release came to light when former Dokken and current Lynch Mob guitarist George Lynch (whose daughter was engaged to one of AILD's guitarists) gave an interview during the Monsters Of Rock Cruise and mentioned it. According to Lynch Lambesis already has a new record deal and a book deal. Alternative Press then reached out to the California Department Of Corrections And Rehabilitation who confirmed that Lambesis was indeed released on parole back in December. Now Metal Injection found out that he is set to marry his long-time girlfriend on April.
  6. I finished Oxenfree. I have to say I'm a bit disappointed. I had a lot of fun playing the game. I loved the atmosphere and the characters. The gameplay itself was a bit simplistic but in a more story-driven game like this that doesn't matter all that much. Then the ending happened.

According to Tony Iommi's Facebook page former Black Sabbath keyboard player Geoff Nicholls lost the battle with lung cancer today. Nicholls started out as a member of the bitish Heavy Metal band Quartz in the 70s. He left them in 1979 to join Sabbath. That was right around the time Ozzy left the band and was replaced by Ronnie James Dio. He would be a member of the band for the next 25 years before being replaced by Osbourne's keyboard player Adam Wakeman in 2004. He also played keyboards on both solo albums by his former Sabbath bandmate Tony Martin.
  8. To me he'll always be Dr. Garret Macy. He was a great actor. I always hoped that we might get a final season of Crossing Jordan on a streaming service like Netflix I know the chances for that are slim to non-existent since the show was never that popular. Nevertheless I hope that it'll happen but it won't be the same without him.
  9. Actor Miguel Ferrer died yesterday from throat cancer. His most well-known role in cinema was probably coke snorting corporate executive Bob Morton in the original Robocop movie. He had small roles in such movies as Star Trek III, Revenge, Hot Shots Part Deux, Trafic, The Manchurian Candidate remake and Iron Man 3. He also did some voice acting in movies such as Mulan (in which he voiced the main antagonist hun-leader Shan Yu), the Beverly Hills Chihuaua Movies and Rio 2. He was also a prolific TV actor. He had guest roles in many TV shows. I first saw him when he played a pationt being diagnosed with cancer in the pilot of Emergency Room. He was Lloyd Henreid in Stephen King's The Stand mini-series, Dr. Garret Macy in Crossing Jordan (my favorite role of him), FBI Agent Albert Rosenfield in Twin Peaks and most recently Owen Granger in NCIS: LA.. And he was George Clooney's cousin. Which I had no idea about.
  10. Another band/project for all Helloween/Gamma Ray/Unisonic fans to hold you over while all those bands are put on-hold as Helloween prepares for their big reunion tour: The Unity is a band by long-time Gamma Ray guitarist Henjo Richter and his fellow Gamma Ray bandmate drummer Michael Ehre. They are joined by members of Ehre's old band Love.Might.Kill. It's basically Love.Might.Kill + Henjo Richter. They've signed a record deal with SPV/Steamhammer and will release their yet as-yet-unnamed debut album on May 5th. Here is the lyric video of their upcoming single "Rise And Fall": Source: Unity-Rocks.com Wintersun, the band of former Ensiferum vocalist/guitarist Jari Mäenpää, have finished recording their third album. But if you're hoping to finally get the sequel to their 2012 album "Time I" you'll be disappointed. The title of the album is "The Forest Seasons" and it will be entirely self-contained. But according to the band "Time II" will still happen at some point. The new album will be released later this year via Nuclear Blast records. Source: Blabbermouth.com Greek Power Metal band Firewind will release their new album "Immortals" this friday via Century Media Records. Firewind is the band of guitarist Gus G. who became known to a wider audience by replacing guitarist Zakk Wylde in Ozzy Osbourne's solo band in 2009. Firewind started out in 1998 as a studio project to showcase Gus G's abillities as a guitar player to potential labels. However after the release of the first 2 records decided to make the band the main focus of his career. He got rid of the studio musicians he worked with before, hired musicians that were willing to go on tour and quit the three other bands he had joined since establishing Firewind (those were DreamEvil, Nightrage and Mystic Prophecy). In 2013 long-time vocalist Apollo Papathanasio quit the band due to his unabillity to commit to the band's heavy touring schedule. Later that year Gus G announced that he would put Firewind on hold so that he could focus on his solo career. He went on to release two solo albums, "I am The Fire" in 2014 and "Brand New Revolution" in 2015. He reactivated Firewind in late 2015 and presented German singer Henning Basse (ex-Metalium, ex-Sons Of Seasons) as the new vocalist of the band. They spent most of 2016 on working on the new album. Gus G. produced the album together with Dennis Ward (Unisonic, Pink Cream 69) who also co-wrote the 10 songs of this album. About half of them are based on ideas they both collected for a side-project they worked on in the past that never went past the songwriting stage. Tracklist: 01. Hands Of Time 02. We Defy 03. Ode To Leonidas 04. Back On The Throne 05. Live And Die By The Sword 06. Wars Of Ages 07. Lady Of 1000 Sorrows 08. Immortals 09. Warriors And Saints 10. Rise From The Ashes Firewind Line-Up: Gus G – guitars, Henning Basse – vocals Bob Katsionis – keyboards Petros Christoldoulidis – bass Johan Nunez – drums Hands Of Time: Back On The Throne: Source: Blabbermouth.net
  11. Seems like there are still a lot of Bryan Singer fans out there who really liked the first 2 X-Men movies and for some reason Days Of Future Past as well. Apparently they expected big things from Apocalypse. Critics liked Days Of Future Past as well. It has a 91% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. I had high expectations for Days Of Future Past. It was a shame that they didn't manage to keep Matthew Vaughn because I really love First Class. But I really like the first two X-Men movies too so I went to see it with an open mind. I ended up being really disappointed. I couldn't get invested into what was happening. By the end of X-Men 2 and First Class I was at the edge of my seat because I cared about what was happening to these characters. But this movie just left me cold even though the stakes in it were just as high as in the previous two movies. And I don't blame that on the actors. They were good in their roles (apart from Jenniger Lawrence who just really didn't want to be there and it shows) but the writing just wasn't there. I hated that the entire plot basically served to overwrite everything Vaughn established in First Class and to restore the status quo of the Singer movies and how they killed almost all of the supporting cast of First Class. That's just very disrespectfuyl towards Vaughn. Plus they wasted Peter Dinklage on a nothing-part. Quicksilver was cool though. Best scene from the movie.
  12. When I visit the website with Firefox and try to download a EWR mod Firefox blocks the page telling me that it is been reported as a deceptive site.
  13. Nope. Metal Hammer are owned and published by TeamRock and Rvolver is owned and published by a company named NewBay Media. I don't think this will have any impact of the international versions of the Metal Hammer Megazine since they are all owned by a different publisher. Can't imagine how much it must suck to get layed off right before christmas.
  14. For the fans of old school Helloween or old school Euro Power Metal in general: We're not going to get new albums by Unisonic, Helloween or Gamma Ray any time soon and we don't know when Masterplan will get around to record an album with new material since Roland Grapow seems to be quite busy producing other bands in his studio. So here is a little something to tide you over until then. Nuclear Blast recently signed the band Lancer and they will release their third album "Mastery" on January 13th. For those of you unfamiliar with Lancer: They are a small Power Metal band from Sweden, play Helloween-inspired Power Metal and are probably mostly known for having cyborg-ostriches on the covers of their first two album. Here are some songs their new album: Iscariot Mastery musicvideo: Future Millennia And some of their older stuff: "Masters And Crowns" musicvideo (2015) Purple Sky musivcideo (2013)
  15. Watched it a couple hours ago. Enjoyed it a lot. Great performances all around. And I've read about how Disney made them shoot extra scenes to make it more light-hearted like "The Force Awakens" but personally I didn't notice anything. Spoilers for the movie
  16. Does anyone here know a good Westworld podcast? I've tried to find one but there are so many and I don't know which are worth listening to.
  17. Fair enough. I suppose if you do it more often it'll feel less weird to you eventually.
  18. I go to the movies on my own all the time. Never felt weird about it.
