I never saw Kills so I was planning on doing that on the 31st and then Ends next year. But part of me does want to see it whilst it's in cinemas, if only for the novelty of it (I've never seen any of them on the big screen). Granted, this series isn't going anywhere even if they are naming it Ends, but I can't imagine we'll get another one with JLC again.

I dunno. I've watched all 12 previous movies, and not all of those have great endings either. I'm probably going to wait until I can get it on Blu-Ray, though.

It’s not the ending that’s the problem

Just watched Halloween Ends.

Absolute shit.

We didn't hate it, but man was that disappointing.

Taken as its own thing, it had some really interesting ideas and I would say was a good film. That said, when you look at the promise of Halloween Kills and then watch Ends, it's just not good enough. Kills establishes that Michael is more than human, and Ends kind of continues that idea, but in a very disjointed way.

Ends feels like two very different movies mashed together.

Because I don't think the spoiler tags are working, I will refrain from going into too much detail. The beginning of the movie would have been a fantastic way to continue the franchise beyond this one, because it really doesn't require Laurie's presence and could have made for a very interesting look at what drives Michael and could have given us our explanation as to what he is.

This movie really didn't feel like the culmination of Michael and Laurie's story. I would have done things a lot differently here. I had these really grand ideas and high expectations after Kills, which may be my favorite film in the entire franchise.

Ends isn't a bad movie, but it doesn't stand up to the three movies that came before it in the timeline, and feels like more of a mess than some of the middle films in the original timeline.

Beyond Laurie not getting a satisfying conclusion, it's incredibly disappointing that they teased us with all of these different ideas as to what Michael is, and then they take it to a weirder place, don't explain anything at all and close the Michael Vs Laurie feud with an ending that felt like more of a let down than the Finger Poke of Doom.

I feel like this movie in time will be remembered like the other Halloween 3, fittingly this was the 13th overall Halloween movie and they attempted something other than the standard tried-and-true formula again. Season of the Witch as a standalone horror movie was an interesting idea, but because it had the Halloween name attached to it, people expected Michael Myers to go on another killing rampage and didn't get it, so it tanked the whole anthology idea.

This movie had some good ideas, and could've worked as a standalone film, but because it had the Halloween name attached to it and people were expecting Michael v. Laurie "one more time" (even if it's the fourth or fifth "one more time" and both are at least in their 60s now), doing something different for most of the movie didn't work for a lot of people. This feels a lot like the Star Wars sequel trilogy. They felt like 3 different movies rather than a trilogy with a fully connected satisfying arc. I still personally enjoyed it, but I can understand why others had a problem with it.

Now this would have been a cool movie!

Good lord how I hate the Halloween movies that show Michael Myers eyes.  There should be nothing there when people look at him

My local cinema is showing Terrifier 2 this weekend. Not the big theatre in town... our LOCAL cinema. Whoever has taken over the place is doing awesome. They landed a screening of Clerks 3 and brought Rocky Horror Picture Show to the big screen here. I would have loved to have gone, but I'll have to hope they bring it back some time in the future when I'm more comfortable screaming the songs in a theatre full of other people doing the same. Fucking covid.

The old lady and I are going to try and get there for Terrifier 2 though. It's going to be weird sitting in a theatre in our masks and not having any snacks, but I really want to support what they're doing here.

My biggest issue with the cinema over the years has been that it's just typically an aggravating experience because of other people (spoiler: I fucking hate most people, and large groups especially. Also, I'm agoraphobic, so that probably has something to do with that.) So, if I'm just going to get all pissy anyways, and what's showing isn't something that I feel the need to support, I don't really care if I miss out.

That's where the local theatre comes in though... because I don't feel the need to spend $30+ just on tickets to go see something that's already made its' budget back, has a streaming home already and is made by a company who is swimming in cash.

For something like Terrifier 2, or other smaller horror films, I'm way more open to the experience. Especially when they're catering to what I want to see, and they aren't asking an insane amount of money for the tickets.

Anyways, off the tangent... Terrifier is one of our favorite, more recent low budget horror movies. It's in our regular rotation. Art the Clown is hideously captivating and I am beyond stoked that I'll get the chance to see him in his bloody glory on the big screen. Based on some of the comments from people who've purchased tickets already, I'm fully expecting that there's going to be a whole lot of people in the audience having a very hard time watching this.

According to reports, some people who watched it threw up.

Yeah, there are disclaimers in the ad for the event about viewers throwing up and fainting. I always take that with a grain of salt though. People said the same thing about Hostel, and when I went, I saw people squirming in their seats at the visceral imagery, but that was the extent of that.

I'm thinking the reaction to this might be a little more grotesque though, if only because I know people who like violence and found the first movie to be too much. With 2.5 times the budget and the Wizard Demo God of Champion Lionhearts appearing, and knowing that Jericho is a huge horror fan, I'm fully expecting the violence and gore to be much improved on from the first movie.

The first movie featured my absolute favorite Death-by-Sawing scene in film.

I haven't seen the first film, but I'd imagine a lot of the gross out gore is because Art is a cannibal?

First movie is free to view on the Tubi app. Highly recommended if you like lower budget horror and visceral kills.

Without spoiling anything, it's the kills really that would be gross-out gore. As saws are going through a body, you get a real close up of the teeth tearing away at the flesh, muscle and bone. The film-makers don't pull any punches. If there's violence, it's shown in its' full bloody glory, instead of insinuated or cut away from.

When people ask me if they can handle it, I always point them to the glory days of Torture Porn in horror. If they didn't like that, they won't like Terrifier. I'm not saying that if you thought those were bad movies to stay away from Terrifier. More just referring to the gore and violence of it all.

What makes Art so intriguing as a villain, is his complete and utter joy at doing what he's doing. How he plays with his victims and makes them uneasy before they even realize how much danger they're in.

Terrifier 2.

If you enjoy over the top gore, a charismatic villain and long for the days of 80's horror... this movie is a love letter to you.

We got to be one of ten (I believe) cinema's across Canada to get this release, and it's the absolute coolest thing my city has ever had. Even in limited release, Terrifier 2 has made its budget back over twenty times already. Expect an announcement for a third entry in the franchise based on that alone.

Art the Clown will be the new Freddy Krueger.
