Does the NCAA need to change its rules before the game can return?

No. Current NCAA rules prohibit EA Sports from paying players to use their names, images and likenesses in the game. If those rules are still in effect when the game is released, EA Sports plans to include real details such as team names, mascots and uniforms but not anything that would resemble the real players on those rosters.

Oh so if need be they're planning on doing what they SHOULD HAVE JUST DONE EIGHT YEARS AGO

Just get Key and Peele to do the fake names.

As someone who never played an NCAA game but has seen them heavily praised, what about them makes it so different to the Madden franchise?

Well for starters, the college game is more entertaining than NFL.

But from a non-biased standpoint, the college games always did things first. Back when Madden would change their game, NCAA was always the guinea pig the year before when it came to gameplay changes.

But then you also have the pageantry, the atmosphere, and the feel of college football. NFL tends to feel very by-the-books, almost a corporate feel to it. College football has the traditions, the marching bands, the student sections. You have 100,000 fans that are cheering on the players and school that they went to or grew up living next to.

The NCAA games created the first-person style of play in the EA football world, where you'd be a college student and juggle college with being a football player.

At the end of the day, if you're more of an NFL guy, you'll probably always prefer Madden. And I'm sure it's hard for non-Americans to get the full college football experience. But the college games always felt more fresh and willing to experiment with different ways to play and develop a game franchise.

NCAA Football offenses were way more fun, way more diverse than Madden still has ever seen.  You can run an entire option offense and it actually works, tons of trick plays, spread sets that have only just moved over to Madden in the last few years.  Also does a good job recreating the skill gap between a bad team and a good team, if you've got a 90 rated WR and you're playing a really bad small school with 65 rated corners, you are going to dominate them and have fun doing it.

Finding the double barrel shotgun in RE7 and enough ammo has made this game less scary. But I was just given a bunch of grenade rounds and shotgun shells. I think a boss fight is about to happen.

They took my weapons away :(
