Yes he collapsed while covering the game and was later pronounced dead. He was as important a soccer journalist over here as anyone - a massive name in sports journalism for years between his work with World Cups, college basketball.

There's going to be a LOT of very legitimate suspicion that this was not just a collapse/heart attack given his very vocal and public actions against Qatar.

 

I personally was not a fan of Grant Wahl at all from a professional standpoint, but he was clearly a very beloved member inside the US soccer community. This is terrible news.
