peteypirahna
Good news folks! I SUDDENLY HAVE ENOUGH CONTROLLERS TO THROW SMASH BROS TOURNAMENTS ON DAY 1 WITHOUT BUYING MORE PRO CONTROLLERS! AND IF THEY PATCH MARIO KART I COULD DO THE SAME WITH MARIO KART! This is a good day! Sousa
I legitimately cannot figure out why the fuck Nintendo keeps doing that. Quom
Because it's easily the best controller ever made (if we ignore the d-pad).
apsham
A lot of Smash players are instantly familiar with it too.
Sousa
I get that, it's a great controller, but are they going to start selling it again or something? It's really weird. We (I believe) still have a thousand-year-old Wavebird around the house, but I've gotten comfortable enough with the Classic Controller that I can't see buying an adapter just to play one game. apsham
That controller that they're showing plugged up to it? They're selling those and some other branded ones, I believe. Certain places, you can buy a bundle with controllers.
Sousa
That's pretty rad. I hope it's compatible with more games than that.
peteypirahna
Considering how many Nintendo first party games on the Wii had alternate controls, I'm guessing all the major first party games will be compatible (Mario Party, Kirby, StarFox), and others will be patched in (Wind Waker HD, Mario Kart, Pikmin?) EDIT: I legitimately cannot figure out why the fuck Nintendo keeps doing that. "Here, you can play this new game on this 13-year-old, two-generations-back console controller!" You're forgetting how creepy the Super Smash fanbase is and what they'll do if there's an extra .0001 frame of lag with wireless controllers compared to wired. GoGo Yubari
I'm looking forward to getting that bundle. I would have loved a wireless version of the same controller really but I'm down with playing console Smash on a GC controller for a third console generation in a row. Red Devil-Taker316
As someone who plays tournaments and is kinda part of the competitive community, I wouldn't play Smash without the GC controller at this point.

thatshortguy
Note to all 3DS owners: I love you, but I hate you. I hate you all.
apsham
Picking up Smash after work, hyped for it - I love the reviews that say it is constantly rewarding you.
Sousa
I am super conflicted. I am the most conflicted. I almost certainly can't play it on my DS due to the fucked shoulder buttons, and I am 100% certain I'm getting it on Wii U. URGH.
GoGo Yubari
Yeah, it's a teensy bit awkward to control with a busted R button and a 3DS that has miles on it already. But I'm looking to upgrade to the New 3DS XL next year so I'm making do.
peteypirahna
When's the new 3DS XL coming out anyway? It seems strange to be releasing new designs of the current, soon to be old 3ds when there's a new one announced and just around the corner. Sousa
Is there local, one-cartridge multiplayer? If I can get my kids in on it, I might pick it up, but that's a big sticking point for me.
apsham
I really don't think there is - the game is pushing what the 3DS can do already, I think that's why they have to rely on multi-cartridge multiplayer.
