I really enjoyed all aspects of it. I was a little cautious going in, because the finales can either hit really big. Or, not. There's never an in-between for modern Who finales. 

 

This hit big. Damn, I'm pleased it did too!

There doesn't appear to be a show for it so it will likely be a trailer and the BBC YouTube channel tends to get trailers up pretty quick after they air, they also say after the men's Wimbledon final, so it could go on later than planned if that over runs.

After the announcement of the last Doctor felt far too showbizzy they manage to go in the complete opposite direction and make it seem entirely inconsequential.

 

Thats not a comment on who it is, just the way they announced it.

I like this for a lot of reasons, it's definitely overdue for a female doctor first and foremost. But from another standpoint she and Chibnall worked together on Broadchurch which can likely mean they know each other very well and it'll help get everything off to a faster start.

I lost interest in Doctor Who for a lot of reasons during Capaldi's run with absolutely none of the reasons being Capaldi. But Moffat was not good as a showrunner and here in the US its streaming was behind the Amazon Prime paywall. But I'm definitely back on board now, this is so exciting.

A Time Lord/Lady has 12 regenerations, the War Doctor does fuck this system up so either the new Doctor is the last regeneration or the start of a new one, that is unless they want to really fuck with the continuity.
