He had no professional training outside of a couple years of amateur Jujitsu. I'm not sure how anyone expected a different result. While Jackson may not be a top level professional, he's still a pro fighter while Punk was an amateur at best. Punk didn't get the spot because he was a supreme athlete, he got his name because people know he brings the wrestling fans with him. He brought ratings.
