Maybe I'm naive, but I saw it more of a consensual (i.e. dutiful) intercourse that Alicent found rather dull. It was an intentional contrast between the passionless nature of their politically charged marriage and the genuine affection between Rhaenyra and Criston, a forbidden match. Love versus duty and all that.

What I'm enjoying about Daemon is that he's simultaneously a force to be reckoned with and rather pathetic. Unlike the more calculated Corlys, Daemon's manoeuvres are more out of personal insecurity than long-term tactical gain.

RE Daemon: performance issues most likely. Also likely the one time he isn't the bad boy when being one would work out best for certain future kids that are very strong seahorses

I think it was performance issues.  He was into it when he felt like he was the one in charge.  But once she was into it, and kinda started taking charge herself, he lost interest

I’m really enjoying this series so far, however it feels very rushed.

For example, one minute Viserys is basically dying and then pretty much the next scene is him giving his speech.

Then the introduction and swift death of Daemon’s wife was all a bit too quick. It feels to me like whether or not he’s a true “bad guy” has been a bit ambiguous but then that happened just out of nowhere.

On the plus side, the biggest chunk of time is out of the way owing to the decade-long time skip between last week's episode and the upcoming one, so it should slow down to a more sensible pace.

If we're being highly specific, there is one more shorter timeskip of a few years between S1x07 and S1x08 according to season outline.

Season 2 will be better as there's much less "ayo not much happens here in all honesty considering it's a time of peace so let's go to the next big thing" going on. Assuming the show goes 4 seasons as is rumored, three of those will be within a two year in-universe timeframe. Much better than nearly 30 years in one season.
