Most of the character models look great but let’s talk about Andrade.

Is it just me or can they not do mouths? I presume it's to do with the fact they move, but they look weird.

They really need to put out a demo for this game, kind of crazy not to.   If its a fun, No Mercy-esque game, you need to let people see that.

He looks like an evil comic book villain or something.

Also, Aubrey Edwards wtf.

I don't know, I thought some of the gameplay looked fun there is definitely some awkwardness going on. Even if the reviews are good I'm probably going to hold off on buying this one.

Yeah most of the streams of the game the past few days got taken down by THQ Nordic for copyright claims but the biggest concern for me by far is that the streamer seemed to be just steamrolling through the CPU on Elite difficulty in 2-3 minutes.  Like they’ve already mastered a game that was supposed to be “easy to pick up and play, difficult to master”.

It’s in direct contrast to what Denker and others who were invited to play in Vegas or given advanced copies were saying about the difficulty though, so who knows.  But that’s what I’ll be following the most as more people start playing.

This seems like a game that will be best enjoyed in multiplayer chaos.  But I kinda doubt my friends can be talked into buying this, and online play in wrestling games is always hit or miss since not everyone’s gonna wanna have newLegacy-esque mayhem.  So if the CPU sucks and there’s not proper 1P replayability it’ll be a dealbreaker for me.

Some of the discussion around the game is a little disturbing to be honest. Like, I want the game to be good, but there's people out there trying to convince others that they need to pump all their money in to make this a good game and convincing themselves that they'll be adding stadium stampede and all sorts of things with a patch and there's just no sign that any of that's true.

I'm sure it probably happens with every game and I just don't normally pay attention but some of these people seem like they're prime fodder for a cult.

It certainly helps developers distance themselves from their own shortcomings. "It would have been great if only you plebs supported it" is a better look for them than "We didn't make a very good game".

You see it a lot with early access games. Buying a game on the basis that it might have some interesting content one day is taking a risk with your money. For me, a game is only worth buying if what if offers there and then is enough to have fun with. If more is added later, great.

That's not a comment specific to this game because I haven't closely followed its development. Hopefully, it will be a nice alternative to the other wrestling games on the market, but I'm also not putting down £60 before any thorough reviews are out.

The interview with the devs all but said that another major investment would only be done if the sales for this game support it.  Which was pretty obvious from the jump.  But in this case I took a major investment to mean a 2nd game, turning it into a proper franchise.  Even if this were to happen it would be years down the road, as they've openly admitted that they feel the yearly release franchise model is the enemy of quality.

What remains to be seen is what the scope is of the updates they make to the existing game over the next few years.  We know the first couple of DLC packs already.  Will they all be like that (a couple wrestlers and a mini-game) or will they eventually be more substantial things that can add additional replayability like new match types, new RTE stories, etc?

Modders already discovered plans for a BattlePack with the first one being All Out themed, so timing-wise this seems like it would line up after the first few already announced DLC packs are out.  BattlePacks seem normally encourage a lot of grinding, often for purely for a cosmetic reward.  But we'll see.

If the gameplay is fun, replayable, and the kind of thing people want to play for years on end, then AEW will eventually recoup their investment and then some.  If it's a game that people tire of quickly, they will lose their ass and there won't ever be another game.  Only time will tell.

Just purchased the game. First game I've paid full price for in years. Kinda, I guess. The Elite Edition is 10% off for PS Plus subscribers until the 29th, so I saved a bit by grabbing that.

I am off Wednesday, and it looks like it drops Wednesday for pre-orders, or the Elite Edition at least. So I'm incredibly excited to get going.

Stadium Stampede was datamined recently, actually. It’s an online 30 person battle royale that takes place in the stadium, I guess. Like Rumbleverse. That’s where the battle pass comes in.

can i not get the elite edition as physical? (looking at Switch in particular)

THQ Nordiq did a FAQ this morning that says that the Elite Edition will not be a physical copy. I am so happy they did that, because now my twitter feed in regards to Fight Forever isn't littered with this one fucking Ross dude who kept sending out tweets to basically anybody involved with the game at any level basically demanding that he get a free upgrade to the Elite Edition because he pre-ordered the base game before they announced it.

Beyond that, 100 CAW slots is confirmed (I've seen the number before, but couldn't remember if it was ever officially stated), we can customize the attire of in-game wrestlers and the post-launch content will include additional game modes (Stadium Stampede incoming, updates for Road to Elite likely and possibility of a GM/Universe TYPE mode in some form).

I haven't decided who I'm going to run through RTE with first. I might just dive into the Casino Battle Royale and go with whoever emerges the winner. UNLESS there's a Revenge-style battle royal where I can have 30 to 40 guys and eliminations occur via pinfall or submission. I think that's the match type I played the most in Revenge. It was just so much fun.

Is it possible to buy the physical edition and then dlc my way to the elite content, or am I just out of luck? I don't mind buying like a little game on digital, but I like to have the big ones on physical.

If you buy the physical copy, you can for sure purchase the DLC to get the rest of the content. The only DLC I'm not positive on is the Matt Hardy pre-order bonus.

That said, every other game I've ever had with a pre-order bonus DLC has made it available later on for an extra charge.

The Elite Edition will save you money on the already announced DLC though. On Playstation, it's $12 more than the base game. I would imagine that the DLC on its' own will likely be priced at about $5 for each pack. There's what, four or five announced packs?

Does the pre-order allow access to the Stadium Stampede or is that a whole seperate deal entirely?

Stadium Stampede hasn’t been officially announced yet. The datamined Battle Pass was All Out themed, so it might not be released until then.
