Quite probable. All you need is for Chile to hold Spain to a draw and Brazil not to lose to Portugal.

That way we would get Chile, the winner of Paraguay vs Denmark/Japan in the 1/4, and Argentina/England/Germany in the semis? Well at least we had a chance to repeat our 4th place from four years ago.

God I hope not. It's almost as if placing second is better than first.

The World Cup has turned into World War 2 - the French surrendered early, the USA arrived late and we're left fighting the Germans.

Culminating in the USA nuking Japan in the final?

And us, France, Russia and the US carve up the German national team?

If we get first place and avoid Spain, we get Holland/Italy next and Uruguay/Mexico/USA/Ghana in the Semis...

That is indeed very interesting. A lot of very diverse reactions to the blowout loss, and I'm glad to actually have some perspective on how actual North Koreans are reacting to North Korea's two matches (as opposed to the ten millionth joke about the games being edited so it looks like North Korea won).

But surely that must be a joke blog :/

If this World Cup has taught me anything it's that North Korea doesn't have freedoms, basic sanitary conditions or the internet.

And that their team will be personally shot ala Dinamo Kiev

lol at one of USA, Ghana, Uruguay and South Korea getting to the semis.

Wait what ... you can't be serious. Have you not been paying attention to this World Cup ?

Uruguay has been one of three squads that has played more than one quality match so far and they've yet to concede a goal. South Korea and Ghana are the type of teams that give "better" clubs headaches. The USA has shown their ability and should England get by Germany that's the last team they'd want to face.

USA, certainly the luckiest team of this World Cup thus far. First a gift against England, late goal today and now a dream tie against Ghana.

Either way, I'm super pumped for the next round. England performed a hell of a lot better today and hopefully it's the confidence boost that is needed. I think the game against Germany is actually better for us, it'll certainly have us more fired up. Personally, after today's performance, I see us beating them. Either way, this is going to be awesome.

I'd say the US team had more then luck. The way they responded to going down by 2 against Slovenia was amazing. If they were lucky, they would have won that game 3-2 instead of tying it 2-2.

Mistakes like that of Robert Green have happened again many times since. They are part of the game, and even more than usual, part of this World Cup. They weren't by any means lucky to get Ghana. The won the fucking group. They won the right to play the second from the other group which usually is a worse team than whoever finishes first. And they deserved to win the group they beat Algeria, in a game they were unlucky not to get a five goal lead, something the English team couldn't do. It's England's fault that the US get Ghana and they get Germany, not a matter of luck, the ref, the wind, whatever excuse you want to use.

Sorry if I sounded like a jackass but I'm sick of the English team supporters cry every fucking time they play at a World Cup or an Euro Cup.

I'm not even bothered about getting Germany. And I'm certainly not saying the USA haven't played well either. I'm just saying in my opinion, they've had more lucky breaks than any other team that has progressed so far. It's not even trying to put them down. Hell, I wish England would of had some luck, because it's certainly not a bad thing. Either way, USA have had a few lucky breaks. Saying that doesn't exactly mean they've been shit or don't deserve to be winning the group :/
