And also give the acoustic EP's Jar of Flies/Sap a spin too. Nutshell is one of my favourite songs ever. And all but one song (Love Song, which is a joke) is wonderful. Right Turn is like an all-star list of grunge artists, featuring AIC, Mark Arm of Mudhoney and Chris Cornell.

Never heard of Four Year Strong.

Five Finger Death Punch are really boring, yet somehow they have a contingent of HARDCORE fans in Jersey, who all own ludicrously obscure merchandise and the like. Baffling.

Slayer just don't interest me. Saw them live, got bored.

I don't think I've ever heard Marina & The Diamonds. Actually, that's a lie. I heard them the other day on the radio, thought "oh, that's who Marina & The Diamonds is" when they said the name at the end of the song, promptly forgot what it sounded like. Wasn't what I expected though.

I used to adore Alice In Chains when I was a teenager. Still quite like them now. Jerry Cantrell's a legend.

Ahem...

How the fuck do you forget to mention Facelift?

Who the fuck are Four Year Strong!?

Five Finger Death Punch are quite bland live from the couple of times I've heard them at Download.

Slayer are fun for the odd song, but quite overhyped. Raining Blood is still a quality track though.

Never heard of Marina & The Diamonds.

Alice in Chains. Hmm... I remember listening to them a few years back and being entirely whelmed by them. I much prefer both Pearl Jam and Nirvana to them.

Four Year Strong are wonderful, I don't really know what they'd be described as, I think melodic hardcore is the most apt, although they're not really that heavy, they're heavier than the pop-punk label. Kind of like Take This To Your Grave-era Fall Out Boy, but less gay whininess and a bit more aggressive.

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH

I'm not very familiar with them, but their cover of "Bad Company" is one of the worst covers to make it onto mainstream radio that I've ever heard.

"BAAAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUURRRRRRRRRRRRRDDDDDDDDDDD BAAAAAAAAAAAAAURRRRDDDDD CERMPAHNY!"

It's the musical equivalent of listening to someone take a shit.

I will readily admit, I actually don't outright dislike Puddle of Mudd. I almost enjoy them, although, it's for reasons I can't explain and a band taking a Nickelback concept so soon after ("Rockstar" and "Famous" are the same fucking song) isn't positive. Also, Scantlin's views on women in his songwriting is hilarious. My favorite is "Psycho" simply because he seems to be getting accused of something utterly ridiculous. (Being a "schizophrenic psycho" and side by siding it with "a paranoid flako", which I'm pretty sure is two entirely different things, and the schizophrenia probably doesn't bring a "maybe" aspect.)

As for most of these debates: Most of the punk and metal stuff sucks, the indie stuff is clichely good, and I gave a vote for TV on the Radio. Oh, and the legends are underrated or something.

Belle & Sebastian are my favourite to feature on the list so far, and in the unlikely event that a good few misplaced votes for Ryan Adams are found, my favourite band that will feature on the list. I'll not bother mentioning that one of their albums is a bit guff and another is absolutely horrible because it is more than made up for by their other albums and all their EPs. They charged me £30 for tickets which is an absolute scandal.

Led Zeppelin have a few fun songs and a few boring songs. I don't really think they are worthy of the adulation they get.

New Pornographers aren't anything special. I like that Snow White It's Alright song or whatever you call it though.

Biffy Clyro are a nice band, and contrary to popular belief their newer stuff is better than older stuff. The "I liked them before they were famous" brigade for Biffy is more irritating than that of any other band except perhaps Kings of Leon. Remember when absolutely everyone (including my dad) knew Justboy? What exactky equates to "before they were famous" then? And I don't mind The Captain. The big Biffy single I can't stand is That Golden Rule, which would actually be quite good were it not for two minutes of pointless string chops tacked onto the end.

Avenged Sevenfold are horrible. And incidentally they are currently #6 in the album chart I believe. The best thing the chap from Avenged Sevenfold did was that song with Slash, and it's not even that great.

YES! Biffy Clyro are awesome. They are one of those bands that just gets better with every album they've put out. They keep evolving their sound, adding new elements here and there while keeping all what was good about them in the beginning with Blackened Sky. Only Revolutions is a stupendous album, I loved every track, including The Captain!

I've only just started listening the The New Pornographers. They're alright.

A little bit behind, but yeah, Dirt is the album you need to listen to out of all AIC albums. It is their best by a fair way. If you are looking for something outside of that, you could go for the self titled 3rd album. The debut has some good stuff, but is a bit too hit and miss for me.
