From what I understand from what the press is reporting, they are free to sign with whoever they want, and will almost certainly be able to play right away. There is a risk that if it is judged as wrongful termination, the players (or whoever signs them) will have to pay Sporting a fee.

Sergio Ramos is pulling out all the stops in his never-ending quest to be the most hated man in football...

Speaking of, I'll always have an unreasonable love for Sergio Ramos. The man is the right type of cunt in every possible way on the pitch. He's mean, aggressive and physical to the point of threading the line and so fucking clever to boot. He's excels in everything you could want in a defender; pace, tackling, heading, positioning and leadership.

He gets a lot of criticism for his antics and disciplinary record but as someone who' admires and has only played as a defender myself, he's everything you could hope for in a player. I don't get the flak he gets. Of course he was going to be aggressive on Salah and there's no way he meant to physically hurt him. He's a proper defender. So yeah, he's amazing 😍

I do somewhat agree. I can't stand the bastard, but if he was wearing Arsenal's red and white, I would adore him.

He is considered the most powerful figure in football in Croatia, but now Zdravko Mamic has been sentenced to six-and-a-half years in prison for corruption.

Mamic was found guilty of siphoning off millions of euros in transfer fees when he was an executive at Dinamo Zagreb.

On the eve of the verdict he fled across the border into Bosnia.

Among the ex-Dinamo players caught up in the trial is Croatia captain Luka Modric, who was charged with perjury.

The Real Madrid midfielder is suspected of having made false statements during the trial, when he was questioned about his 2008 transfer to Tottenham Hotspur. He has not commented on the charge.

The case will not affect his role in the World Cup in Russia later this month.

Zdravko Mamic was not just chief executive of Dinamo Zagreb, Croatia's biggest club, he was also vice-president of the Croatian Football Federation (HNS).

For years fans at Dinamo alleged that he and his allies had used their club to make money for themselves by depriving the club of funds from lucrative transfers and evading taxes. Then in 2015 he and his brother Zoran, the Dinamo coach, were arrested.

The scandal was brought on to the international stage when Croatian football supporters threw flares on the pitch at the Euro 2016 championships in France.

Charged with diverting 116m Croatian kuna (€15.7m; £14m) from the football club and evading another 12.2m in tax, Mamic was later shot and wounded on a visit to his father's grave.

The court in Osijek also handed down jail terms to his brother Zoran Mamic, former club director Damir Vrbanovic, and tax inspector Milan Pernar. None of the accused were in court to hear their sentences, but they have all denied the charges and have the right to appeal.

Lot of potential revenue basically pissed away there by being a crazy person.

So many clubs will be daft to not try to get any of them. They're gonna surely have their pick of teams depending on what they're looking for in wages.

And the club's president just confirmed a 4th man leaving today... Bas Dost is out.

So from their base XI from last season this is what they have left:

Patricio, Piccini, Mathieu, Coates, Coentrão (on loan), William, Battaglia, Acuña, Gelson Martins, Bas Dost

Both Battaglia and Acuña have been rumoured to be leaving since the start, and today it was said Mathieu was leaving too... This means there would only be Piccini and Coates left. And they also lost Podence and Bryan Ruiz is leaving as his contract was running out anyway. And they don't even have a coach right now.

The players have a week to go back on their decision to leave, but as of now, they can already sign with whoever they want. And in my opinion, Fernandes was pretty much Sporting's best player last season (the only two cases I could see an argument made would be Patricio and Bas Dost). Gelson is good, but has a few weak points in his game that he needs to improve to get to the big stages (saying he is a diamond in the rough is really fitting in this case), but Bruno Fernandes seems to be ready. Hell, I have a hard time thinking he most likely won't start in this world cup, seeing how he has been playing this past season.

Yeah, I've seen us linked with Bruno Fernandes and was mostly interested because I had a LIGA Nos team on FIFA ha. Seems like an absolute mess of a club though and they're surely missing out on so much big money. Bas Dost will definitely be attracting plenty of attention for mid table Premier League clubs. I mean, I assume they'll all be attracting loads of attention if there's no fee involved.

I think most clubs across Europe should be looking at any of the Sporting players who cancel their contracts.

Think we should be going for Fernandes and Martins as they are players who can strengthen positions in our squad and offer more depth.
