Bellingham just got a brace in his first El Clasico to win it for Real including a 25 yarder in the 88th min 🙄

I believe that belter came far earlier than that. It was before 70' I remember. The winner though came in stoppage time

In more positive news, Ajax is dead last in the Eredivisie after getting trounced 2-5 earlier today and last place Volendam beating Excelsior 2-1.

First time in the history of Dutch football that one club is dead last in two divisions (Ajax U21 is last in the first division)

This is like one of those freak seasons in Football Manager where Liverpool somehow relegates by falling to 18th, but somehow they're doing even worse than that?

A Turkish Super Lig game erupted in chaos on Monday night when the match referee was punched in the head by the president of one of the teams before being kicked in the face as he lay on the ground.

Ankaragucu’s president, Faruk Koca, punched the referee, Halil Umut Meler, in the face at the end of their home match after Rizespor scored a 97th-minute equaliser. Koca walked on to the pitch and hit the referee when the final whistle blew in the 1-1 draw at Eryaman Stadium.

The Turkish league has been suspended following the incident. According to local media, both Meler and Koca were subsequently taken to hospital, with Koca under guard and expected to be detained following treatment. Meler had sent off one player from each side before the Rizespor leveller.

The incident quickly reached as far as Turkey’s president, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who was quoted in Turkish media condemning the attack. “I condemn the attack on referee Halil Umut Meler after the MKE Ankaragucu-Caykur Rizespor match played this evening, and I wish him a speedy recovery,” said Erdoğan.

“Sports means peace and brotherhood. Sports are incompatible with violence. We will never allow violence to take place in Turkish sports.” The Turkish FA [TFF] chairman, Mehmet Buyukeksi, later confirmed that the Super Lig was “postponed indefinitely” following the violent incident.

The 37-year-old Meler is on Uefa’s elite list and has previously officiated in the Champions League, as well as taking charge of West Ham’s Conference League semi-final first leg against AZ Alkmaar last season.

Rizespor expressed support for the referee in a statement, saying: “We strongly condemn the undesirable events that occurred after the Ankaragucu match we played today. “We wish for the referee of the match, Halil Umut Meler, to get well soon.”

“We are saddened by the incident that took place this evening,” said a club statement from Ankaragucu. “We apologise to the Turkish football public and the entire sporting community for the sad incident that occurred after the match.”

Whilst the incident itself is serious, I cannot do anything other than laugh when I see this image of the referee in hospital today, because of how ridiculous and cartoonish it looks:

Bout to wheel around for the next six months yelling 'ADAM!' everywhere he goes.

Roddy was my first thought as well but, yeah, there's some real 'Dr Nick' energy about that picture like he's being dressed up to draw sympathy and maybe get a killer payoff out of it.

A Turkish top-flight game was suspended after Istanbulspor's president withdrew his team from the pitch in protest at a refereeing decision in their match against Trabzonspor.

The incident came on the day Turkish football resumed, a week after it was suspended when a referee was punched.

Trabzonspor were leading 2-1 after Paul Onuachu's header in the 68th minute.

But Istanbulspor claimed they should have had a penalty prior to their opponents' second goal being scored.

President Ecmel Faik Sarıalioglu went down to the pitch and withdrew his players in protest in the 73rd minute.

Some Istanbulspor players tried to persuade the president to reconsider his decision. with Ivory Coast defender Simon Deli pictured kneeling in front of him.

"It is a sad day for football... We will wait for the football federation's decision from now on," Trabzonspor coach Abdullah Avci said.

Trabzonspor posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, that the match "was stopped in the 73rd minute due to the players of the opposing team withdrawing from the field".

Istanbulspor are bottom of the Super Lig.

Good grief.
